Truthful Lies

The moment Yerim's lips connected to mine, my entire body cringed with repulsion and the internal functions of my brain stopped operating for a good second.

And before I could even think, I perceived the audible sound of the classroom door sliding open, causing both of us to hastily turn our heads in the direction of the entrance.

There stood an iced-up Jin with a stupefied look on his face, witnessing the awfully unpleasant and misconstrued scene in front of him.

"What. The. Fuck." he uttered in sheer disbelief, alternating his gaze from his girlfriend to his best friend who were just caught joining lips.

"Jin, listen, it's not what you think-"

But before I could even corroborate the misunderstanding, Yerim franticly clung onto her boyfriend's arm for protection and fabricated a bullshit story.

"Jungkook forced me to kiss him! I didn't want to Jin! I swear!"

Of course, seeing his adored girlfriend "crying" with her palms covering her eyes and her shoulders shuddering up and down, Jin gave me an outraged and aggressive shove on my chest, causing me to stumble back from the force.

"What the hell dude?! I thought you were my friend?!" he exclaimed with furrowed eyebrows, his  threatening stance indicating his capability of punching me at any second now.

"I didn't do anything! You know how much I like Hana! Why would I kiss your girl if I already have someone I have feelings for?!" I disputed angrily, knowing for a damn fact that I wasn't the guilty one here.

"After all that we've been through, do you still not have any bit of trust in me?" I asked with a hopeful heart, having faith in the indestructible bond between us.

But once again losing to his girlfriend's overdramatic sniffling and quivering body beside him, Jin shook his head from side-to-side in mistrust and incredulity.

"You're just like all those other guys who only get close to me to steal my girlfriend from me." he squinted his eyes with a pained expression, his next statement sorely stabbing me in my chest more than his previous ones has already have.

"And I thought you were different Jungkook."

Having no intentions of relinquishing our friendship like this, I persistently justified myself, "Can you just listen what I have to say?! Yerim kissed me! She's the one that told me that she's in love with me-"

"H-He's making things up Jin! He's lying!" Yerim shouted as she pointed her index finger at me, her cruel objective of only saving herself adding up to the many qualities that undeniably make her a worthless, cold-blooded lowlife.

And lucky for Yerim, one the underclassmen teacher suddenly barged into the classroom and interrupted our quarrel.

"Hey hey hey what is all this yelling about?!"

Identifying us as seniors of the school, he yelled yet again while gesturing us to exit the place, "What are you students still doing here?! Go home right now!"

"Sorry sir, I just came back because I forgot my notebook." Jin handled the situation professionally, retrieving his blue notebook from the inside of his desk in a casual manner.

Wrapping his arm around Yerim, he ambled towards me while safeguarding her from me.

"I cant believe you, dude." Jin whispered to me one last time with utter disappointment evident in his voice, then disappeared from my sight with his dishonest partner in his arm.

The inside of my chest stung painfully, for losing such an important person like Jin felt like an indispensable piece of my heart was brutally torn off by my best friend's bare hands.

He didn't believe me.

He didn't believe his best friend.

Instead, he believed that good-for-nothing deluder he calls his girlfriend.

And nothing's more frustrating than being accused of lying when you're actually telling the truth.

Although I really wanted to wreck this entire classroom and scream at the top of my lungs from the unbearable rage I've been containing, that stupid teacher was still glowering at me with one hand firmly on his hip.

Clenching my fists that were trembling with infuriation, I vigorously snatched my dangling backpack on my chair and darted out the exit door.

I regret trusting.

I regret feeling.

I regret everything.
