~ The Next Day ~
"Please Hana? Just this one time." I beseeched earnestly like a beggar asking for money, all because of my irresponsibility of going out to stalk a certain someone and saving my ex-girlfriend's life instead of completing my homework assignment last night.
"No, I am not letting you copy my homework. Why didn't you do it last night?" Hana crossed her arms adamantly, sounding just like my mom back at my hometown.
Of course unable to tell her that I was busy following her on her lovely date, I persistently implored, "Come on I-"
"Jungkook."
My name was called out of the blue, causing both Hana and I to desist from our pointless argument and shift out attention to the owner of the voice.
Identifying that it was just Yerim and not some teacher that was about to kick my ass, I gladly said, "Oh, hey. What's up?"
"I just wanted to thank you again for last night. You really saved my life." she gave me a solemn smile with her hands bashfully hidden behind her uniform skirt.
"Don't worry about it." I said as I shrugged, bewildered at the fact that she approached me just to thank me once again.
But unexpectedly, Yerim brought her hands in the front and revealed a cutely embellished box.
"I-I also wanted to give you a little gift of appreciation." she muttered shyly while avoiding making eye contact with me.
"Oh, thanks. What is it?" I questioned with slight excitement, examining every side of the adorned present.
As if she was apprehensive of how I'd react, Yerim enunciated her words slowly and timidly, "Mint chocolate chip cookies..."
Extremely surprised that she was aware of my favorite cookies, I couldn't help but query, "You remembered?"
"Jungkook, you didn't go a day without buying mint chocolate chip cookies before. Why would I forget?" she giggled heartily, and her contagious chuckle made me laugh embarrassedly.
Almost forgetting that I was keeping Hana waiting, I hastily wrapped up the conversation, "Anyway, thanks again for the gift. You really didn't have to."
"No problem. See you around!" Yerim said and waved at me goodbye, then scurried off and merged into the crowds of students.
"What was that all about...?" Hana asked with skepticism, her arms still folded for some reason.
"Some creep was trying to touch her so I beat him up. No biggie." I spoke the truth, recalling the unfortunate occurrence that happened to Yerim last night.
"Dang, you're so polite when you talk to Yerim. Totally different from when you talk to me." Hana began discussing a topic that was completely irrelevant, giving me a roll of her eyes.
"Of course. Just looking at your face makes me want to be mean to you." I poked her forehead with my index finger, which was quickly smacked away with her gorilla strength.
"She seemed to know so much about you. Even your favorite cookie type." she squinted her eyes at me, clearly not knowing that Yerim and I used to be in a relationship.
"That's... not important." I mumbled and averted my eyes away from Hana's, refraining from touching that sensitive subject.
But then, I realized something.
"Wait wait wait," I paused for a second, leaning my face closer to hers and halting about a few inches away.
"Are you... jealous?"
"You're an idiot." Hana stated in disbelief, the turned her body sideways to walk away from me.
But before she could even take a step forward, I brought my left arm up and firmly placed my palm against the wall, obstructing her way and causing her to freeze instantly.
"You didn't answer my question Hana." I whispered villainously, enjoying seeing her flustered more than I should.
Attempting to show her "tough" side, she shot daggers at me that only looked like a glare of a pouty infant in my eyes.
"I-I'm not jealous! Okay? Now leave me alone."
Smirking malevolently, I leaned in even closer and whispered once again, "But I don't want to."
Pushing me by my chest with all her might, Hana panicked heavily and spoke as if she was on fast-forward mode, "I have to go. C-Class is about to start."
With that, she dashed away with the energetic stomping of her foot echoing through the hallway that was now empty.
I just remained there chuckling at her adorably small back figure, not giving a damn whether I was gonna be late to class.
God, she's so cute.
