The Corona Virus has affected many different people in a multitude of ways. While some have been hiding in their houses with mounds of toilet paper, others have been out and about probably even more than before. While some have been casually sitting on their couches binge watching Netflix, others have been suffering the losses of their loved ones. With such the wide-spread event that it is, the Corona Virus has had a varying impact on all those sucked into the drama. And then, there is me. The random bystander just "watching the world burn." Here is the COVID-19 Pandemic, from where I stand.
It all started for me as a meme: one of those random jokes floating around the internet. "We need a new plague." That was the joke. It had apparently been 100 years since the last one, and 100 years having taken place before the one before that. So there was that slight ounce of fear stirring about that another one would start up soon. I believe fear has been the key factor of this widespread event. It was fear which had started it, and fear which is ending it. After a while, there came out a meme about China and it's new "Corona Virus." I never watch the news, so memes are as close as I can get to that. Pretty soon, memes about this virus, were everywhere! It really made me wonder exactly how big of a problem this was going to be.
After some time, I heard my parents talking about it. I heard other adults talking about it. I heard my friends talking about it; and not in the same way all those jokes had. Then, we all were sat down on the couch and watched a recording of the president himself announcing a nation wide shutdown. It was.. kinda strange. All those past weeks, I had just brushed it off as an overreaction: something everyone was feeding their fear into. But, then, I was suddenly part of it.
Good thing for me is: I'm home schooled. Most of my friends are too. When we were first kept under quarantine, it was just like a normal day for me. I just sat around, doing school work. If anything, it was a little better than before, because we didn't have to go out shopping, attend band or anything like that. It was like the weekend, over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. Alright, I started getting tired of it. Since I am in a home school co-op with my friends, we could no longer meet up and do group projects or just normal school stuff together. Instead, we have to attend our weekly gatherings online, and some of us have some really bad internet issues, which quickly becomes annoying. Since it is nearing the end of the school year, I have had to give a speech online: my absolute WORST, and I will be giving two presentations the same way too.. very shortly. Also can't forget that now all of a sudden my parents have been going farm crazy.
But, it isn't all that bad. Like, for instance: I have much more time to put into writing my books and animating. I have been able to finish one book already, and am as of right now, only two chapters away from completing yet another one. I also have had much more time to rethink how I am going to practice animation, and have been able to spend time properly planning out a small series. For me, as a creator: someone who already has a lot to do at home, things are getting along just fine.
