012. just like the movies

"hi, can i buy you a drink?"

Aubrey arrived at LAX on Saturday morning the following week. Natalie and her had made a very elaborate plan on surprising David. She was extremely exhausted but she pushed through and met up with her sister and best friend before she had to get ready for the surprise.

After they were done with all the squealing and hugging, the three of them found themselves on the couch of Aubrey's penthouse, talking about the surprise.

"So you're surprising him tonight?" Dani asked to make sure she got it right.

"Yep, the vlog squad is hanging out at 1Oak tonight and I'm just going to pop in. I'm really curious to see how he'll act in front of his friends."

"Holy crap, that's going to be fucking iconic," Madi let out.

"Shit, A, that's some movie level shit."

Aubrey nodded at what Dani said, "I know, it's going to be amazing if it actually happens the way we pictured it."

The three girls talked about other things after that, making up for lost time. Madi finally told the girls about the snotty girls in college and Dani opened up about her upcoming brand deals and the trips that she had planned.

Madi, Dani, and Aubrey were great at this. They were so used to not be at the same place all the time and being in a long distance friendship that Aubrey leaving for 6 months didn't even make them blink. It was just the way things were. Madi was still in school so she's always got something to do, Dani was an instagram model, and Aubrey was always on her business trips. That was just the way things were with them, always on the go.

Aubrey took a nap after a couple of hours of talking with the girls. She was so tired from her flight that she kinda just passed out on the couch. The girls let the poor girl nap, waking her up around two and a half hours before she had to leave.

They ordered postmates for some late lunch then went straight to fussing about Aubrey's appearance.

After a lot of changing and browsing through her ridiculously large walk-in closet, Aubrey finally managed to settle on an outfit that she really liked. She had opted to wear a crop top with a pair of wide-legged white pants and her favorite chunky nude heels. Dani had curled her hair while Madi had helped her with her make up. She knew she looked good.

"Are you going to drive there?" Madi asked while grabbing the setting spray from Aubrey's vanity.

"Hell yeah, nothing's going to stop me from driving one of my babies tonight."

Madi and Dani looked at each other knowingly. This one Hughes girl truly loved her cars to death. Well, technically, the Hughes kinda share their cars. They have a lot since Robert and Jack are car fanatics and they would just use the cars that are available to them wherever they are. They currently have four cars in LA for Aubrey and Madi to use, but Madi was not one for supercars so she had taken claim of the range rover. Aubrey however, loved them so she rotated between the Audi R8, the Tesla Model X, and the BMW i8.

These cars were their more reserved collection, the ones her father and brother currently had in San Francisco were a whole other level of crazy.

The Audi was Aubrey's pick for the night, since it was her absolute favorite. The girl smirked inwardly, knowing that David will totally freak.

Aubrey almost shed a happy tear when she sat on the driver's seat of her car. It's been awhile. Her little happy moment was ruined quickly though when she realized that she'd been running a little behind schedule. Without thinking any further she quickly texted Nat that she was on her way and made sure to also tell David that she was going to call it a night since it was past midnight in London.

David had absolutely no clue. He had always bragged about not being easily surprised by big things but he really didn't know what was coming for him that night.

The thought of being with David again made Aubrey stepped on her gas pedal a little harder and before she knew it, she finally arrived in 1Oak. The girl put her car on valet and told the guy to keep it close.

With Natalie's reassurance Aubrey finally gathered enough courage to go inside. Aubrey was so nervous her hands were starting to shake. 'Shit, what if David gets mad,' she thought. Before she could back out though she found herself inside the club.

It was loud and packed. She was alone too so it made her really uncomfortable and antsy to be there. She couldn't even spot David from where she was which made her even more jittery because as of that moment she didn't know what to expect. Trying to keep her spirits up, Aubrey carefully made her way to the bar to ask for some water to calm her nerves.

Before she could say anything to the bartender though, she felt a presence next to her and turned around. To her surprise, it was none other than Todd Smith.

"Hi, can I buy you a drink?" He flashed her that million dollar smile but all Aubrey gave him was a smirk.

"Sorry bud, you're going to have to find someone else to spend your time with tonight," the girl patted him on the shoulder before moving away from him. She ordered her water by herself and Todd took the hint. He left almost immediately after.

If only he knew, she thought.

Toddy Smith went back to his table with a frown that didn't go unnoticed by his friends.

"What's up with you?" David asked the dark haired boy. The others continued their conversation once Todd's only response was a shrug.

Todd plopped down on the chair next to David, "I met this girl at the bar. She was like really pretty so I offered to buy her a drink, but she shot me down immediately. The girl didn't even hesitate."

David just started laughing, "Welcome to the club, dude. Now you finally get to know how the rest of us live."

Todd cracked a smile before taking a swig of his beer. If he can't get a girl tonight, might as well try to get shitfaced.
