"we need to stop this."

David and Madison were finally going on a date. It was about time they did, as it only took them two years.

Even though they've been on and off for about two years now, David still considered this to be a casual, non-commitment type of thing. He wouldn't even dream about going on this date if it weren't for him feeling very panicked about the thoughts he's been having.

Basically, Aubrey left for a big deal event in New York and David suddenly felt very uneasy about the whole thing. Aubrey had invited one of her brother's friend to go as her date and it nearly drove him crazy when he found out. Knowing fully well that he shouldn't be feeling the way he felt, he decided that it was time for him to focus his energy on another woman. And since he's been unofficially stringing Madison along for about two years now, he decided to give dating her a shot.

Their date was going to be at Chateau Marmont, which was a very basic choice but David couldn't bring it in him to do a lot more. It was definitely a basic choice but he didn't know what else he should do with her. He once said in a podcast that his dream date would be to go canoeing with a girl but he also said that girl was going to be the girl he married, and he can't even fathom the thought of marrying Madison.

In the name of putting on an effort, David decided to wear his nicer outfit and made Taylor go get a bouquet of roses for Mads. This might not be his ideal date but he did make the commitment to go on a date so he was still going to put on his best smile for the girl. He even managed to convince himself that he wasn't an asshole for doing this.

"Hey," Nat greeted him from his bedroom door. As usual, his best girl friend came in unannounced.

"Hey," Dave acknowledged her.

"So it's true," The Latina approached him, "You are going on a date with Madison."

"Yeah, I mean, it's about time right?" David sighed, looking at himself in the mirror once again.

"I guess so," she shrugged, "but only if you actually want her."

"Come on, Nat, I can't possibly know that yet," The 26 year old entertainer scoffed.

"Are you really telling me that when you first went out with Aubrey in New York you didn't know if you wanted her or not?"

"That's different."

"I know you think that Aubrey's different because she's, well, Aubrey but it shouldn't be Dave. You've known Madison longer than you know A, I think you know her well enough to know whether or not you want to be romantically involved with her. For god's sake, you overthink this shit like it's your business, so if you still can't see her as your girlfriend, don't you think that means something?"

David averted his gaze to the large floor-to-ceiling windows in his bedroom. The view spread out on it was no doubt one of the best money can buy, it reminded him of how far he'd come and how much he wanted to share it with someone special. He was tired of persevering alone, he wants someone to be next to him while he take on the world. He needed a girl.

"I have to try, Nat. Besides, have you seen Madison? I'd be lucky to have her, she's every guy's dream."

"But is she yours?"

A flash of Aubrey went through David's brain when he heard the question, but that was not something he can admit anymore. She's the one he can't have anymore.

"Of course, what kind of guy would I be if she wasn't?"

David made it so that his tone would stop Natalie from asking more questions.
