she puts her lunch away
and zips up her coat
for the rain
she knows
all the kids know
they are going to run
today the weather doesn't matter
they are going to chase each other
around the trees
across the field
she looks forward
to the little time they have
to be kids every day

she hides behind the slide
while the others look for her
she is soaked through
down to her shivering skin
she is having the time of her life
and hopes it will never end
today is paused
to continue the next day
