Mini POV
We've been dating for four months, and now Andrew and I are driving to Cesar and Monse's apartment for a family gathering. My nerves flutter like butterflies in my stomach.
Lily looks up at me from her car seat, her eyes wide and steady. "Mommy, don't stress. Uncle Cesar will see how happy you are-and he'll be happy too."
The girls go ahead of us, rubbing Andrew's hand gently just outside the door. "Tonight, you're going to meet three guys even more overprotective than me," Lily says with a sly grin. "Cesar-Oscar's brother, who we helped raise; Tony-Oscar's brother from another mother and best friend since kindergarten; and Ray-Oscar's father, who considers me like a daughter."
Andrew squeezes my hand softly. "Mini, I love you. These last four months have been the happiest I've known. No matter how tonight goes, I'll be here at the end. But Lily warned me-I should be worried about your best friend and Monse."
I smile, heart swelling, and step inside. Little Oscar runs to me, his face lighting up as he clings to my legs. "Well, hello baby! How are you doing? Did you get any more teeth for Auntie?" I grin at Andrew and point, "Andrew, this is my cuddle bear, Little Oscar-Oscarito. Say hi to Andrew, okay? He's Auntie's boyfriend."
Oscarito waves shyly. Andrew beams back at him, and I feel a flicker of hope.
Flaca POV
I watch Antonia play happily with her cousins and Oscarito, holding Tony's hand tightly. His fingers rest protectively on my belly.
"Tony," I say softly, "remember-Mini is happy. Mano wanted her to be happy."
Tony looks at Mini across the room, his smile a mix of resolve and hesitation. "I know. It'll just take time to get used to a new family member who isn't Oscar. You all need patience with me."
I kiss his hand gently and nod. Then I walk over and shake Andrew's hand. "I heard you're the new guy in my sister's and niece's lives. I'm Alejandra, but you can call me Flaca."
Andrew meets my gaze steadily. "Mini's told me everything. I love Aminia-and I respect her love for Oscar. I'll never get between that. I just ask that her family gives me a chance."
Tony nods and shakes Andrew's hand with his free one. "Like I told my wife-just give me time. I see how happy Mini is, and how much the girls like you. But if you ever hurt them, you'll answer to us."
I hug Mini and smile, feeling the baby kick hard. "Someone's been active today. Any day now she'll be here. I told Tony I wanted to come today."
