As Osoro rounded the corner, her mind filled to the brim with memories, a pleading voice knocked her back to her senses.
"Please! Stop!" yelled a male with salmon-pink hair, thrashing around in the hold of some taller, bulkier looking guys.
"What's that punk?" asked one of the guys, moving threatingly towards him. The boy paled slightly as a knife was harshly slashed across his face, leaving a deep gash in it's wake. Osoro froze to the spot, the scene becoming painful to her eyes. As the boy continued to cry for help, she realised exactly what she had to do and with an angry growl, she ran toward the group.
"Scram assholes! What the fuck do you think you're doing!?" Osoro quickly knocked the knife out of the boys hand and proceeded to punch him harshly in the face. The rest of the group stared at her with horror before someone exclaimed: "Run! It's Shidesu!" and the entire group scrambled to get away from her. The boy she punched was about to get away too, but Osoro was having none of it.
"Apologise, now" she commanded, holding the person by the collar of his shirt to face bleeding boy.
"I-I'm sorry" he stuttered pathetically. Osoro grunted and threw him to the side, watching as he ran away in fright.
"Pathetic" she spat, clenching her fists in anger, however, Umeji's sharp inhales of pain caused her to turn back to the task at hand. She cautiously approached him and extended a single bandaged hand.
"Here, get up" she said, her voice monotone and void of emotion. The boy looked up at her with slight panic in his eyes but took her hand anyways. Osoro pulled him up and examined his slashed face from a distance.
"Come on, you better get that cleaned up" she spoke, beginning to move away from him. Umejj frantically followed her, not wanting to be left behind and quickly matched her long strides with his own.
"T-Thank you" he stuttered, looking down shamefully. People stared at the duo with disapproving eyes and some looked at the salmon-haired boy with alarm due to the amount of blood on his face, but Osoro turned to him and frowned slightly.
"Don't thank me yet nerd. Learn to fight for yourself and only then consider being grateful" she grounded out, but not as harshly as she usually would.
Umeji turned his gaze to the ground but suddenly, an idea sparked inside his head. He knew he desperately needed to learn self-protection and who better to learn it from than one of the most feared people in school? After all, she had saved him only a moment ago.
"U-Uhm... Shidesu?" he asked timidly, causing Osoro to raise a brow at him, "C-Can you, well... you know... teach me?"
Osoro's eyes widened slightly. "Self defense you mean?" she asked with slight surprise. Umeji nodded.
"Yes. I-I would like to learn how to stand up for myself" he proclaimed, somewhat determinedly. Osoro gave him a long stare but eventually caved in.
"Okay" she said, continuing to walk as though nothing happened. Umeji looked at her in surprise.
"Really?" he asked, "Do... Do you mean that?"
Osoro turned to him with a determined glint in her eye that only motivated the salmon-haired boy to learn to fight even more. She looked him up and down before smirking and wrapping an arm around his shoulder.
"Yes. Yes I do."
