Ch. 43- Shopping for Tears

*Marinette's POV*

I scurried through the Paris Mall.

It was 8am and the mall was packed, as it just opened. I was shopping all night and morning, getting gifts for my friends. It's weird to believe but Chloe was the easiest one to shop for. I got designer shit with beauty supplies ranging from makeup to face masks. I drove back and forth across the city, trying to get my list checked off so I wouldn't have to worry about it last minute.

I ran and pushed through the crowds of people, desperate to get to the Starlight Electronics store. My thoughts ran faster than my legs as I thought I might not give my two closest friends the gifts I was planning on giving them...other than myself. I skidded to a stop outside the store and entered.

My eyes immediately landed on the Sapphire Light Pro computer along with a bunch of equipment to make a recording studio set. I quickly made my way to the counter, making sure my face was well covered by the black mouth mask I wore.

"I would like to buy two Sapphire Light Pros, two light up mouses, three ring lights, two Alex Gloss headphone sets, two recording mic sets, 5 SD cards, and a camcorder with the attachable lighting and mic please" I said and as the lady rang up what I wanted, she stopped and slowly looked up at me in shock.

"I know what's going through your head right now. Yes I'm spoiling my friends and yes I'm crazy" I chuckled, causing her to chuckle while ringing me up.

"Your total is $3,682" she said and I handed her my card.

She gave it back to me and got a couple staff members to help me gather all the stuff I got. The staff packed up all the bulky equipment like the computers, lights, and recording mics while me and another staff member went for the others. I got the light up mouses...mice...meece...whatever and the headphones, SD cards, and camcorder.

We gathered all the equipment together and we all made our way out to my car. Everyone stared at me as I walked by with all these expensive things, so I put my head down and tried to keep my face hidden. We got to my car and I was glad I brought my jeep.

We loaded my Jeep up and I locked it up before we all went back inside. I walked around the mall, trying to warm up from the snow falling outside.

I saw some sun dresses that would look really good on Emilie so I bought them. I then saw the sports store.

Along with Alix and Kim, I love sports stores. Now it isn't your typical sports store, it's a shoe store but it's full with jerseys, snapbacks, hoodies, and high tops. I don't see it as a shoe store because I only view boring shoes or heels.

I walked around the store, grabbing some shoes that I wanted before grabbing shoes for Alix and Kim. I finally found Alix's shoe size and bought the 7 pairs of shoes.

I may or may not have gotten them some matching shoes.

I walked out of the store, now carrying 3 bags, 2 of which were huge. I wandered around the mall and dodged all the crowds of people and random dogs that popped up. I bought some pink clothes for Rose along with some Jagged Stone merchandise.

It was well past lunch and I was tired from holding all these bags so I went over to Starbucks. I knew I could've just eaten at the food court but I didn't want to take my mask off.

I stepped into the long line and waited as the people in front of me ordered.

"Oh my god this line is long" a girl's voice said from behind me and my eyes went wide as I stopped myself from whipping around.

Holy shit

"I'm not surprised, it's hella cold out and Starbucks is the place to go!" A girl's rough voice said.

"Bro I can't believe it's almost Christmas" a rough voice spoke and I felt my heart jump with excitement.

"I know right!" A nerdy voice said, "The year has gone by so fast" the voice said as we moved forward.

I was at the counter.

"I would like a Hot Mocha with whipped cream please" I said to the cashier, handing him my card.

"Okay," he paused, "Name?"

Shit..I can't say it with them behind me.

"Ariana" I spit out and he nodded and gave my card back to me.

I walked to the other side of the coffee shop and sat down on a bar stool, placing my stuff on the ground. I leaned back against my chair and stared at the people who were behind me.

I bit my lip as I felt tears well up in my eyes. This was even worse than the park. They were right. there. and I still couldn't say anything. They looked so different, yet they looked them same. They were no longer the young kids they were a couple years ago, neither was I.

Alya and Nino looked like an old married couple, all lovey dovey and shit but arguing half the time. All the short people grew, but they were still short compared to the guys...well at least Ivan. Chloe had a more natural look and Sabrina looked more like herself and wasn't quiet.

Then there was Adrien.

Oh god has he changed. His hair was the same along with his clothes but his body structure changed so much, yet so little. His jawline was heavenly, his chest and arms filled out his clothes more than they did years ago. His stance...you could tell being a superhero and all, he had his muscle built up. Then his eyes and smile.

His eyes and smile probably changed the most, maybe only to me for the most part. The light in his eyes was gone, as well as the sparkle in his smile. His eyes were dull yet shined brightly. I knew he missed me terribly...they all did. Adrien is something else though; he's a soft, gold-hearted angel that just wants the best for everyone. He cares deeply about everyone and keeps his head up even when he desperately wants to let it drop.

His smiles are real, but you can tell that deep in his eyes when he smiles that he isn't fully happy. He's missing something...

"Ariana, Hot Mocha" a staff member yelled and it snapped me out of my thoughts, making me realize that I was crying.

Stupid emotions

I wiped my tears and cleared my head. It took me a couple seconds to realize that that was my name...well fake one. I got up and took my drink, walking back to my seat before grabbing my gifts.

"Yeah but Marinette said she'll be back soon" Mylene said to Juleka as I walked out of the coffee shop.

"Oh I will Mylene," I muttered, "I will" I whispered as I walked through the mall and to my Jeep.
