The sunshine had disappeared, and the storm was creeping like a black beast across the sky above them. The noon darkness and damp-smelling air threatened to render them helpless. Cynthia cast her eyes to the charcoal sky above them, there was nothing but darkness. She looked down. They were thousands of miles up into the sky.

Danielle was soaring through the sky. Her wings flapped and spread through the harsh winds. Cynthia and Juliet were on top of her. Heights didn't seem to bother either of them.

It was sprinkling. Little droplets of water drenched Cynthia and Juliet's hair. Juliet didn't mind the water but Cynthia did. Cynthia's hair was so long that if it were to get wet, it would weigh her down. The water droplets began growing larger and fell more frequently. The light 'pitter patter' of rain turned into wet thuds.

Cynthia thought about turning the rain into ice. If she were to do this, then sharp icicles would come spitting down on them. So she figured it be best not to.

"Danielle!" called Cynthia, "Fly up higher!" The rain got harder. She looked up towards the sky, water droplets were getting into her eyes.

"Higher?" yelled Juliet over the sound of the wind. "Isn't it worse up there?"

"No!" yelled Cynthia back. "If we fly above the clouds it should be peaceful up there."

Juliet wrapped herself in the long blue robe that blew harshly in the wind. All of a sudden lightning came, a brilliant shock of white in the graphite sky. Danielle jolted downwards and flew lower.

"It's okay Dani!" said Juliet. "I won't let the lightning touch you, I can control it after all." Juliet's eyes glowed vivid blue.

"Danielle fly higher!" screamed Cynthia. The rain and thunder got louder. Danielle opened her wings and soared upwards. The clouds grew darker and darker. Another flash of lightning spooked Danielle and she neighed loudly. Danielle had always been afraid of thunder and lightning. Cynthia held onto Danielle's neck firmly and tried whispering words of comfort. The bone-chilling cold seemed unbearable in the howling wind and icy rain. The sound of thunder rolled through the area as another lightning bolt split the sky.

Danielle flew higher and higher through the darkness. The wind tousled Juliet's hair and whipped it about her pale freckled face. The harsh glow of lightning illuminated the gathering piles of dull grey clouds that they were in.

All of a sudden the sky was clear. Cynthia looked down at the grey clouds that swarmed beneath them. They were above the storm.

Danielle sore through the giant sky. The amount of space was incredible. The sky was open, and filled with soft shades of yellow from mid day. The sun was close to them, pouring it's golden beams on them from above.

Cynthia squeezed her hair. She tried release some of the water from it since it was completely soaked. But when she squeezed her hair the water within it suddenly turned to ice. The crunching noises surprised her when she tried to get the water out, for she did not freeze it.
