I see flashes sometimes
lightning, sparks, headlights
they crack behind my eyelids,
they race along my veinsI see flashes sometimes
you, me, a sky full of stars
you, me, in your car
we're singing to that old song
the one that makes you feel like
coming home
or maybe
the first jump in a lake
(or maybe, the way you make me feel)everything has a name:
the oceans that swallow ships whole
the trees that whisper secrets in the wind
the stars that pinprick the sky
the song you sing to
the emotion I try to forget,
to smother,
to ignore
the emotion that makes me sing too
(but only with you)just one question:
do you feel it too?
