Days passed, those of which were a mixture of me at home working on school work and on these days my parents had insisted to walk Brown which left me at home distracted with texting Cameron. At times I did leave the house to walk with my parents and Brown but most of the times, I was at home.

Today, however, I had a plan which was opposed to what I had done before. It was a weekend and even though usually on these days, I would sleep in till later and only walk Brown in the evening. Today, however, I had plans with someone.

Someone named Cameron.

Somewhere amid us texting, I'd offered that we should hang out soon. He agreed to my excitement, and brought up that he wanted to bring me to one of the best dog cafés that was near our neighbourhood.

I agreed wholeheartedly, happy at the idea that Brown would be with me. Half of me felt guilty that I'd spent so little time with Brown this week and the other half feeling excited that I would be meeting up with Cameron again.

After I'd showered clean and brushed my teeth, with a towel wrapped around my head and a larger one wrapped around my body, I rummaged around my closet for some clothes. I figured that since we were leaving the neighbourhood today, and not only lingering within it, I would make an effort to dress a little differently.

Instead of my usual pair of shorts, I opted to slip on a pair of jeans. I tucked a dark fabric belt into the belt loops loops and left it like that as I slipped on a plain white T-shirt, the collars and the hem of the short sleeves lined with black. I tucked my shirt in and buckled the belt after that.

The towel wrapped on my head was already loose and falling off, so in one soft motion, I pulled it off my head and rested it on my shoulders, my damp hair tickling the furry fabric of it. I spent a few minutes blowing my hair dry, then brushing it through with a hairbrush.

The sound of paws knocking against my bedroom door made me pause in running my brush through my hair. I smiled absentmindedly and strolled to the door, twisting the knob and pulling it open. Brown stared up at me with her big eyes before entering inside of my room.

I pressed the door close, one hand wound around the doorknob and the other pressed against the wooden material. Brown climbed up onto the chair on my vanity table, and stared at her reflection with curious eyes. I smiled as I appeared behind her, reaching for my hairbrush to rid of the last bit of tangles in my hair.

"Brown," I called her name and she turned her small head to me, her ears perking up. She cocked her head to the side. "So, I'm taking you somewhere. Or rather, Cameron's taking us somewhere. To a dog café actually." I explained, watching her cock her head further.

I chuckled at myself and placed the brush back down on the vanity table. I gave myself one look at the mirror and decided that it would have to do. I walked to my working table and drew a drawer open and found my wallet inside. I tucked it into the front pocket of my jeans.

It was one of the reasons that those pair of jeans were my favourite, their pockets were deep and large enough to fit my wallet and my phone and still somewhat being able to not look to bulky. I bought this pair of jeans one day when I was out with my friends at the mall.

I found Brown's leash as well, and tucking it in my other pocket, unsure if I should even have to bring it. Just as I was picking up my phone, about to send Cameron a message that I was ready, the doorbell rang. I turned on my phone on for a spilt second and to see that said boy had sent a message saying that he'd arrived by the front of my house.

I padded down the staircase, calling after Brown who followed after me. My father was at the front door, chatting with Cameron before he turned his head to me. "Heather, you're going out?"

"Yeah, dad." I replied, walking and standing next to him. "I was going to tell you before I left."

He smiled and nodded, looping an arm around my shoulders. "Have fun, don't be out too late." Pressing a kiss to my forehead, he pushed me forward gently and out the door, Brown following me. "Take care of my daughter, son." My dad directed the last bit at Cameron who nodded, however, the tips of his ears turning a bit pink.

"Okay, I will. Thank you, Mr Smith." He told my dad who nodded and waved before closing the front door. I picked up Brown and held her in my arms.

I turned my gaze to Cameron, "shall we?"

He laughed a little and nodded, "we shall." He paused, giving it a little thought. "Aren't I supposed to say that? I'm bringing you to the café." I shrugged with a cheeky smile which he returned with his own. "Okay, let's go."

In front of our house was a lone car, painted in shiny dark blue paint, the driver's window was open and Snow's tiny fluffy head stuck out, her tongue falling out as well. "Is this your car?" I asked, sliding into the passenger's seat, leaving Brown on my lap. The interior was just as nice, sleek with black leather and smelled of the fragrance that attached itself at the air conditioning grates.

"No," Cameron said, closing the door on his side of the car, Snow sitting snugly on his lap. "It's my mum's - she told me I could use it when I told her about us going to the café today." He explained. Within those days of us interacting, despite not being face to face, I think somehow we'd gotten closer and more comfortable, enabling him to speak and talk to me more without shying out like he was when we first met.

In ways I felt more comfortable around him too. I had always been a people person, but, I don't know if it sounded dramatic, I felt really good and relaxed around him. Maybe it was just the excitement that I was making a friend and becoming closer to him as well, but I really did like what was happening.

Maybe I was just being dramatic. After all, it had been only three weeks since we've known each other.

I buckled my seatbelt just as Cameron reached for his and clicked his own shut as well. His fingers wound around the steering wheel and he tilted his head to look at me with an excited smile. "Ready?"

My lips pulled into a grin, matching his level of excitement as I laid back against the car seat and nodded. "Definitely."

He started up the car and drove past our home and past the other houses, the landscape sliding past us. Different colours blurred together as we passed by them. I turned to Cameron who was immersed in his driving, his eyes glued onto the road in front of him as he carefully drove.

I didn't care that I was being dramatic. Whatever this friendship was, I was really grateful to share it with Cameron.
