With my brand new refilled cup of beer in one hand and my clutch the other, I made my way up the stairs. I was still unusually nervous but it had softened a little due to the finding of the reason for my recent flusteredness around Cameron. Though it still caused my hands to turn clammy, my stomach to flutter as well as me constantly overthinking as I paced outside of Olivia's room.
Muffled voices came from the other side of the door, laughter billowing from the cracks and crevices of the door. I paced around a few more times before I told myself to just go in because everything was going to be fine. One hundred percent fine.
I took a deep breath and clasped my hand around the doorknob after tucking my clutch between my arm and my torso, twisting it slowly like it would help conserve my nerves and make me less jittery. I swung the door open, slowly narrowly avoiding a figure that seemed to have the same idea as to I had to open the door.
By just a few mere millimeters, I missed hitting the person and I was just about to apologise, like I usually instinctively did, only when the words died in my throat when I met the eyes of the figure.
Cameron looked at me, surprised. "I was just about to look for you." He stated, looking pleasantly at me.
"Yeah, well I'm here now." My heart pounded harder in my chest with the knowledge that I had a potential and quite a strong crush on him, speaking by the effects that overtook my senses when I was around him.
"That's good." He said with a small smile and I involuntarily let my gaze linger on his face for a little too long before I was cut off by my saviour Olivia.
"Hey! Can you guys close the door?" She asked and I snapped out of my reverie, hastily reaching for the doorknob just to feel a warm hand make contact with mine. Goosebumps erupted on my skin and my cheeks grew warm and I retracted my hand.
"Um, you can close the door." I said, reaching to hold my clutch, so now both my hands were occupied, one by a red solocup and the other a bag that contained my phone.
Cameron said nothing and closed the door gently with a soft click. "Have they started playing the games yet?" I blurted out. Despite being all flustered, my character trait of not being able to hold back some of my words was still dominant somehow.
"No, we were just waiting for you." Cameron said, moving to my side, only making me more aware of his presence. "Let's settle down?"
We made our way to where everyone else was seated. There were six other people in the room, not counting Cameron and I. Sophia, Olivia and Charlie sat crossed legged on the ground with three other people, the two girls I recognised from the kitchen by the keg earlier and a boy I didn't recognise who was dressed in a colourful button up shirt with blue pants, his hair shinily slicked back in gel.
I dropped down next to Sophia crossing my legs as well, Cameron following after, effectively completing the semicircle everyone else was sitting in. Everyone's attention was brought to us as we sat down. I placed my clutch aside, between Cameron and I, like it would increase the distance between us and make me feel a lot less affected.
"Okay," Olivia said, clasping her hands together. "So, have you guys ever heard of his game called Seven Minutes in Heaven?"
"Oh yeah," one of the girls that I didn't know said. "It's a kissing game."
A kissing game?
Olivia nodded. "We're going to play that... But with a small twist. We're changing it to confessions instead of kissing. So, whatever you mention, say or do inside the closet, over there," she pointed at a door by the entrance of her bedroom, "stays in there. Everything you say must be the cold-hearted truth. And I'll say it one more time, whatever happens inside the closet, stays in the closet."
