Beginning a story comes from a place of thought and emotion.
If you're a frequent reader of mine welcome back, if not, welcome in general! In the authors note I will update frequent vocabulary that I come up with throughout the story. I do not post authors notes in the story itself (not a fan) so you'll find everything here.
Vocabulary:
- Shadows: Demons who only exist as much as they can in the realm of humans. They appear as smoke like entities in their most physical form and generally hold a humanistic figure. They are merely defined by the color of their eyes which also appear in smoke like manner. They can move like smoke and lightly touch items (i.e. Knock things over).
- Protectors: A specific kind of human with passed down genetic powers that keep demons from breaking open the barrier to the human world. Protectors are the only ones who can see Shadows.
- The Great Barrier: A barrier that keeps the Demon's from fully forming in the human world. Barriers are held up by staffs made by Protectors. They are like an invisible force field.

Adam Bentz: Father to (Y/n)
Olivia Bentz: Mother to (Y/n), Protector.
Mia (Nickname): Grandmother to (Y/n), Mother to Olivia, Protector
Pop: Grandfather to (Y/n), Father to Olivia
Kathryn Hale: A Protector who used Shadows to murder other Protectors.
