Chapter XXIII
" Hurry up Jess! We're going to be late! Once again! " Kailey yelled as she almost pushed me against the door which led to the hallway.
I quickly ran trying my best to finish my messy bun on the way to my first class.
It was Tuesday morning and our first class was History. Kailey and me basically didn't have much classes together, just History, Philosophy and then English ( depending on the week. ) Teachers usually liked splitting the class in two groups otherwise no one listened and there was this endless loud noise.
We entered the class as the bell rang and Kailey just released this proud smile while looking at our history teacher as if she wanted to say " We made it, now what are you going to do? "
He just looked at us. We could see that he was a bit mad because obviously he couldn't say anything since we were on time.
As we sat at our usual place, next to the window, Kailey looked at me and said " Thank god we made it ".
We were exhausted because of how we literally ran across the whole school just to get here on time.
I started getting all of my books out when I saw this note stuck on one of it.
" Have a nice day Jess. xx "
I smiled to myself as I folded the piece of paper. Obviously I knew who wrote it.
Kailey looked at me and said " Hey why are you smiling? ". She looked at my hands and that's when she saw the note.
" Ooooh what's that? "
She looked at me waiting for an answer.
" Nothing " I said as I put the paper in the pocket of my denim jacket.
" Don't tell me it's a love note Oooooh " she said as she started smiling at me.
" I don't know what you're talking about, it was just a piece of paper. " I said trying my best to make her believe in what I was saying.
That's when the history teacher turned around, looking at us.
" Is there something you would want to share with the class girls? " He said as he crossed his arms and stood there, in front of the chalkboard.
We both looked at each other and then we shook our head.
" Next time, we all would be more than happy to hear your story " he said as he turned around and resumed his class.
Kailey just looked at me and whispered " I know it was a love note, you won't be able to change my mind ", she winked as she started taking notes again.
At the time, I didn't know what to think or even say, but one thing for sure was that I couldn't lie to my bestfriend.
After about 2 hours, we were finally free to leave. I was relieved because to be honest history wasn't one of my favorite subjects. I was always better in Philosophy or English, and sometimes some other languages.
Kailey and I both left the class and made our way to my locker, where I needed to put some of my books.
After closing my locker, Kailey looked at me and I immediately knew what she was about to ask, so I stopped her.
" Don't. I told you it was just a piece of paper. " I said looking at her.
She instantly closed her mouth and gave me this " I don't believe you " look, before rushing in and pulling the note out of the pocket of my jacket.
" Hey! What are you doing? " I said trying to take the piece of paper back before she could read it. But unfortunately it was too late.
She looked up and started smiling.
