Andrés left early the next morning and on his departure had come up with a lie to convince Tatiana he had to stay away for the night. I was to arrive at the monastery later that day so she wasn't suspicious.
He was dying, yes. But it made me more determined for the heist to work. It also meant that whilst Sergio's heist was going ahead, me and Andrés could think carefully about stealing from the Bank of Spain as we all knew it was a trickier job. Andrés just loved big heists, and now I was involved, I could see why. The idea of stealing 2.4 billion euros excited me more than any jewel from the Tower of London ever could.
I cycled to the monastery and lay my bike down on the ground, upon my arrival, I notice Tatiana's car isn't parked next to Andrés - she's out, maybe she's so pissed with him she needed to go for a drive. As I walk down the long corridors the only thing I can hear are my footsteps echo. Then suddenly-
"You need to divorce her!" I stop dead in my tracks so I'm not heard. A stranger's voice shouts, I know that whoever it is is taking full advantage of Tatiana being away. "For all of this to work it must be done now, she's putting not just Sergio's plan on hold, but ours as well."
Ours? I was sure it was purely Andrés' plan, so who was this man trying to take the credit?
"He's right Andrés," Sergio agrees. "Things are complicated enough with Aurora in the plan, so to have Tatiana still around makes things more difficult then they need to be." I'm complicated? How does me loving his brother complicate things?
"Aurora loves me." Andrés spits. "She isn't a complication, Sergio." My heart melts, he was defending me. "She is needed in this plan and you know it, her skills are so valuable that you won't find another girl like her!"
I personally couldn't find what was so valuable about me, maybe it was the fact I was young, so I was quick and tired slower then Andrés. Also I did steal a huge quantity of jewels and I could change from being a sweet, loving girl into an aggressive monster. Maybe Sergio acknowledged the prior, and Andrés the latter.
"Will she be involved in the Bank of Spain heist?" Another man's voice I didn't recognise asks, his voice was much deeper then the first man.
"Of course she will!" Andrés replies sharply, as if what he asked was a stupid question.
I can feel the tense silence from where I was standing and hear Andrés laugh: "You can come out now, Aurora." His voice booms throughout the entire monastery which makes my body shudder.
I walk towards them and see three men I had not seen before stand around in a circle along with Andrés and Sergio. Andrés beams a smile at me and greets me with a toothy kiss, the first public affection for us.
"I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but it's hard not to when the subject is about you." I smirk and two out of the three men smile with me. "I would introduce myself, but it seems I'm well known to you all already."
The first man was very tall and slim, he was pale like Tatiana and had hair that slicked back behind his ears. His well groomed moustache made him easily recognisable and it was clear he had a long relationship with crime.
The second man was similar height, but instead his heritage showed that he was from Spain. He seemed slightly older then Andrés, and his physique told me he wasn't much of a runner. His beard covered his jaw and chin, and although mainly black some sprouts of grey began to show.
The last of the three looked the least friendly even though he appeared the least likely to be a criminal, he was a lot shorter then the other two, and had a child-like face to him. But he too had dark circles under his eyes and lines across his face showing me he also had a trying life.
"Aurora, I'd like you to meet my friends. This is-" He begins but the man with the 'tache puts his hand up to stop him.
"Names won't be necessary." They didn't trust me. They still see me as a youth, another Tatiana that's in a dream world and they think I'll be caught. They don't want to tell me their names because they think I'll throw them to the police, like a dog with a bone. I'm offended, and clearly Andrés is too.
"I'm Martín," The shorter man sticks his arm out fixedly. "Andrés' best friend." He empathises his words to make it clear he is very important.
"Funny," I frown, narrow my eyes at him, and take his hand to shake it. "Andrés has never mentioned you." Andrés laughs at how cooly I've played his friend, and I see Martín's face twist round to Andrés' - I can tell he's hurt by this. "But it's wonderful to meet you, I was beginning to worry he had no friends." Martín half smiles, forced. He must find it hard to see different women leave Andrés' life so suddenly and perhaps he's just sick of introducing himself so often to the new lover.
"Ha!" The older Spanish man laughs. "He's not Tatiana, darling." We both snigger now.
"So why is it so essential he divorces Tatiana? I mean, I agree. I'd like to dress up in a white gown too for him at some point." I wink at Andrés who smiles.
"Because we need to move to Spain." Sergio announces and I instantly feel physcially sick. I hadn't lived in Spain since I was 18, and my parents flood my mind. I suddenly feel guilt overwhelm me and I can't breathe.
Andrés must see me struggling to grasp this fact, and pulls my frozen hand in his and kisses my head reasuringly.
"Are you all a part of the heist?" I ask the three friends.
"No, we have business to attend to here." Martín says bluntly. "We'll be preparing the next few stages in our plans for the Bank of Spain heist, whilst you and Andrés are training for the Mint."
"Yes, and we need to move soon because it'll take 5 months to teach you everything you need in preparation, and I need time to gather more people to join the heist." Sergio tells me. That means me and Andrés can get some time alone whilst Sergio is out searching. It would be as if we really were an ordinary couple, I feel at ease knowing this now and I smile.
"But we can't do any of this until he takes that fucking wedding band off." The slender man aggressively shouts.
I look down at our linked hands and see the golden wedding band shining in the sunlight, it pains me knowing he is legally bound to Tatiana when all we want is to be together.
"Leave it with me, we'll be divorced by the end of the month." The coldness in his voice tells me how unsympathetic he really is deep down. Yes I wanted Tatiana out of the picture as much as everyone else here in this circle, but Andrés was ruthless. Another trait of his that scared me.
