"Gallant"

Mike hesitantly opened the door and walked in. I followed. Immediately we were met with the smell of death. I was quick to cover my nose and so was Mike. "It didn't smell like this before which means..."
"It's recent?" I finished off his sentence with question. I hoped it wasn't recent. I truly hoped, but I also hoped it wasn't the smell of Avery's corpse.
This made me sick. I hunched over ready to throw up, but nothing came. With short breaths I closed my eyes tightly before opening them again. I wished I was home.
"I don't see him," said Mike. He leaned against the wall near the door and furrowed his eyebrows. "Why did he tell us to come here if he wasn't going to-"
"-I don't know." I answered with a low tone of voice. No sighting of him had made it all the more frightening. I almost wished he was here. Maybe then I wouldn't feel the anxiousness and dread increasing as much as it was.
Mike interrupted my thoughts. "We'll wait for a bit to see if he'll show. If he doesn't we're going back to the office, okay?" He let out a heavy breath and watched the ground intently while crossing his arms.
"Hello! Glad the two of you could make it!" A voice all to familiar to me greeted with a high tone of voice. "Even though I'd rather have [F/N] alone!"
I ignored his words and went to question him, but before I could I noticed a familiar small body in his arms. My eyes widened and I was left speechless.
"[F/N]-" Mike called out my name, but I tuned him out.
It was Avery.
Avery was dead.
Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. "No..." Is all I could muster. My legs went limp and I fell to the floor. "Nonono!" I was too late. I killed this little girl. I killed her! I hunched over immediately as the feeling of throwing up any contents I had fueled myself within the day had left my body.
"Aw.. I thought you'd be happy to see her!" The damned bunny said before letting out a sadistic laughter. "I kept her with me just for you!"
I almost wanted to throw up again. "[F/N]!" I heard Mike call my name. He had been talking, but I hadn't heard him. I wiped my mouth with my sleeve and slowly turned my head to his direction. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me up on my wobbly legs. "Are you okay?" He asked letting go off my wrist.
A moment passed before I answered him. "No. No I'm not." I spoke honestly before I turned to the bunny.
That grin off his seemed to widen as I stared at him. "You can have her if you want and you can bring her back to... Mommy." He chuckled once again.
That disgusted me more so then I already had been. If I wasn't so frightened I would've punched him, did anything to make him feel pain, but I stood there.
"You're sick! How can you do this!" I yelled as tears still ran down my face. "How can you.." I was interrupted by a hiccup before I continued, "How.." I immediately stopped when he moved his arms out with the body of Avery.
"Take her already!" He let out another one of his unnerving laughs. He threw her body towards me and my reaction was to immediately back up. I hit my back on Mike's shoulder in the process. I didn't dare look down and instead I stared at him.
"That wasn't very nice! You should've caught her." He said with a saddened tone of voice. "You've upset her now."

Avery couldn't be saved. How very unfortunate. . . Well, I hope you enjoyed.♡
