"Gallant"

It was only the beginning of my 20 first birthday and I, for some unknown reason I felt strangely anxious. I didn't feel the need to even leave my apartment for this reason, but I had too. I was asked to come to the Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, unfortunately.
I already had a guess on why they told me to go there, and honestly, I had many questions on why. Like; Why would they celebrate my birthday in a place for children. Why in a place where those children have gone missing?
I suppose it might've been because I loved it as a kid, or maybe it was the fact my case was on this particular topic.
I was a journalist (for now, they said I had a potential ability to become a detective) working for the police.
I had helped with many investigations and I quite enjoyed it. It was fun helping catch "bad guys" and such. I smiled at the thought before a cold wind passed me. My smile dropped some. That anxious feeling grew stronger every second. Was it really a good idea to go? If my sense were telling me not to, should I?
I sighed. "It doesn't matter. I have to go." I rubbed the back of my neck slowly. What a feeling.
I had already been ready to go before my dearest friend had called me, his name was Max. "Happy Birthday, hun!" He practically yelled in the phone. I smiled though.
"Thanks, Maxie." I thanked quietly. "So, we're meeting at the Pizzeria, correct?" I was half expecting him to just hang up on me, but sure enough...
"What? Why would we go there?" His voice was laced with confusion. I furrowed my eyebrows. Oh. Ohh. Alright.
Oh well. Should've expected that. "I thought Jaylie said you'd be coming, too..?" I deadpanned. Acting dumb I see. I almost laughed but kept it in. "I guess not then?" I hoped I was making myself believable.
"Nope! Jaylie hadn't said anything to me about it, and I'm pretty sure she is going to spend her day with helping her mother," he responded.
"Oh really?" I arched a brow. He hummed in response. I didn't believe him.
"Her mother is very sick at the moment." He informed after a long period of silence that had invaded the line. It was almost unnerving, and so I was glad he had broken it.
"I see," I said dryly.
"Yep," There was a slight pause. "Well, I have to go! Love you, hun! Again, happy birthday! I'd come by, but can't." Then he ended the call.
"That was quick..hm, there is definitely something going on." I grabbed my car keys out of my purse and ran to my car. Jaylie had told me to be there by 1. I was going. I knew them, they almost did this every year and I had only missed one cause I had gotten sick. I ignored my anxious feeling and rode off to the Pizzeria.
What a stupid decision to make.
