"Gallant"

¤▪¤

I froze in place. I just had helped this man. I helped this man! What the hell was I thinking!? My eyes widened. I immediately spun in every direction examining everywhere around me, but soon realized she wasn't there and neither was Glitchtrap.

My eyes began to water. Where were they? Where was Avery? Once again I examined all around me, but to no avail.

Someone tapped my shoulder lightly to get my attention. "[F/N], why did Glitchtrap take that girl in the room over there?" It was Karson.

"What? Where?" I asked quickly. He pointed down a hall.

"I watched him bring her in there. I think there is something wrong.. I just have this feeling." He gave me a worried look. I nodded lightly, agreeing with him.

"You aren't the only one. I'll go check it out, okay? You go back to Max and Jaylie." I said. With the look ge gave me afterwards I knew he wanted to come with, but I convinced him to stay with Max and Jaylie.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and headed to the place Kars told me he saw Avery and Glitchtrap go in without anyone noticing. I placed my hand on the handle hesitantly and turned it slowly. It felt like forever before I had the door slowly creak open.

I peeked my head in and only noticed Glitchtrap. The child, Avery, she was nowhere to be seen. "Oh! Hey there!" Glitchtrap greeted with that eerily cheery voice of his.

"Where is she..?" I placed myself in the room. The door had immediately closed. I would've paid it mind if it wasn't for my worry for Avery. "Where the hell is she!?" I repeated once again, but louder.

"That isn't important. . ." As he spoke his smile seemed to widen even more. "What's important is that you helped me! And I'd like to thank you.." He closed in, walking ever so slowly towards me. I backed up into the door and was quick to try opening it, but to no avail. The door didn't budge, it locked! My eyes widened.

"H-how..?" I could only muster as he placed his hands on either side of me, trapping me, so I had nowhere else to go. He leaned forward his breath unusually cold hitting my face whilst the nose of the costume and mine had almost touched. "W-why are you so close?" I stuttered out. My breath had caught in my throat and my body trembled. I did not like this one bit. What the hell was wrong with him?

That dreadful grin seemed to widen almost as it usually did. I shuddered. He leaned to one side of my face and mumbled into my ear, "I've missed you," he said.

My eyes widened with confusion. Missed me? Missed ME? I had no idea what he was talking about. I doubted I had ever met this man in my life time. I went to speak, but was cut off by the doors handle twisting.

"Aw! Looks like little Karson is here to ruin everything. I didn't even get to reward you.." He said disappointedly.

The only thing I was questioning was how he knew it was Karson. He backed away from me slowly and immediately I turned towards the door. "K-karson?" I called out hesitantly.

"Yeah! It's me, Max and Jaylie!" He said. "Can you open the door because I can't." He added.

"She really was in there, huh.. how and why did you even go in there?" Max asked.

I went to respond,  but was interrupted.  "Don't tell them I was here, you hear me?" I heard Glitchtrap say. I turned around, but he was nowhere to be seen. I furrowed my eyebrows, but decided to get out of here before anything else. I grasped the door handle and twisted it, and to my luck it opened.

I looked back once more before walking out of the room and closing the door behind me. I was not going back in there again unless I was going to look for clues of Avery's disappearance.

"Why-," Jaylie started before I interrupted.

"It doesn't matter, okay? Oh and by the way, Glitchtrap he...he had to go." I gave a small smile. I didn't know why I had listened to that man, but I couldn't control myself once again. It angered me. It confused me. I didn't understand any of this!

But I kept calm.

"I... okay, I know there is no point in trying to get you to tell us. You're stubborn." Jaylie sighed. "Let's just go back to our table, shall we?"

"Yes. I think that's a good idea," I replied.

I still couldn't get that one thought out my mind. How did he know me? How did I know him? Why was this so confusing. . .
