Me and Harper placed our bags down in the room. One thing I love about all of this is the endless hotel rooms, growing up I wanted to spend my 13 birthday at the nearest hotel with my friends. I sat down on the bed, sinking into it. I turned to look at Harper, already sleeping.

We got here pretty late and by pretty I mean it's 11:58 right now. Yet I couldn't sleep. I pulled out my iPad and stared to reread the book of revelation, again. For some weird biblical reason Famine carries a scale. I went through seven years of catholic CCD and I still don't understand the Bible.

I stared to form a more in-depth plan for Zoey to follow. Instead of going to all what was it 12 crime scene she would go right to the police station. Fly around for a few minutes until she got all the information she thought we would need. Then she would flap back here to the hotel, then we would go from there.

I looked back at the clock 12:14. I need to get to sleep. I took on more look at Harper who was softly snoring into the wall. Sighing I pulled the comforter up to my neck and fell onto the small pillow.

xXx

"So your saying you want me to break into the station, and steal evidence?" Zoey was horrified.
"WHAT NO, no it's an ongoing investigation so if you just wanna fly around you should be able to see all the evidence we need and you can just tell us like every other time." I hoped that would clear things up.
"Okay be back in a few." Then a quick green light and no more Zoey.

Harper opened the window so Zoeybug flew out of the room. I checked the clock 9 am, free breakfast buffet was happening downstairs. As if reading my mine Thorne followed my thought with, "hey you guys hunger, there a buffet happening downstairs." Right he can read my mine. Except he can't read my mind. God I'm so done.

Pretty much everyone agreed, but me, I needed to get my head on straight. "You guys go I'll be down in a minute."

I stared to look through every book I could find on the Four Horseman. Especially Famine. Everything was the same. I even looked at like eight 'how it understand the Bible' websites. None help, most blogs said this was theoretical. It makes you think what the hell is the apocalypse the world isn't really that bad.

On the other hand how in hell do you kill a man with a scale. If I'm lucky it will be glass and I can just stick a shard in his neck, make him bleed out.

The table stared to shake underneath me. I really need to turn off vibrate for my phone.

"Hey Alex, what's up."
"Just checking in, what do you know so far?"
"Nothing, well we know he carries a scale of some sort but not sure how that will help us. Zoey is out now though."
"Okay, that's good I guess."
"Alex are you okay?"
"Yeah, yeah."
"We are on the phone and I can tell you're lying. What's wrong?"
"My mom's back in town."
"Oh any reason why that's a bad thing?"
"About four years ago she just up and left my dad and me. We had no clue why. Found out she was having some affair with this lawyer, and moved in with him. Now she's back like nothing happened."
"Oh" It was all I could manage, what am I meant to say.
"Yeah, so I just wanted to hear that you guys are okay."
"Yeah, we're okay."
"Good, well I have to go now. It was good to hear from you."

My heart sank as the line went dead. Why would someone do that to a kid. Alex would have been what 14 maybe 15, and his mother just left. How long has she been back, and why was she back at all. She walked out she shouldn't be allowed to just walk back in. Then again what do I know my parents are happy living in the Philly suburbs.

I walked out of the room and it was like I walked through a dream sequence. I saw my younger self just sprit down the hall, laughing. My sister right behind me doing the same. It looked like we had bathing suits, as if on cue my brother chased after us shirtless, towel hung over his shoulder. Hotels the one place we got along. We were just happy to be there.

I turned the direction all three of us had come running from, but instead of the hall or more dreams a girl stood there. She heard some sort of balancing scales, Libra style. Her hair was a pale, sickly green. Her skin was withered. This was Famine.
