I ran away for good... I think...

Chapter 7

Stoick's Pov:

We were walking to the Great Hall when Hiccups dragon came up to us and it rubbed its head against Astrid. "It is nice to see you again Toothless," Astrid said while touching the dragon. I held my breath waiting for the dragon to bite her hand off, but it did not. "Astrid... you just touched a dragon a Night Fury and it didn't bite your hand off." Said Astrid's Mother. 

"Earlier on, you said the dragon's name and you just said it again. How did you know its name?" I asked her, but she did not say anything. "Thank you Toothless for keeping Hiccup alive and for bringing him home to me," Astrid said to the dragon. 'I wonder what that was about' I wondered. I was bought out of my thoughts when I heard Fishlegs say "Astrid, I think... I think he wants you to ride him."

"I know that Fishlegs," Astrid stated as she walked towards the dragon and hopped on to it. I stood shocked to see Astrid sitting on the dragon's back. "Astrid, get off the dragon now!" Astrid's Mother demanded

"Come on Toothless, let's catch up to Hiccup." She said. Then the dragon too off running towards Hiccup with Astrid riding it. We stared at the pair before carrying on to the Great Hall.

When we arrived at the Great Hall, Hiccup was already there, and he was helping Astrid off the dragon when the rest of the village and myself were walking up the stairs to the doors of the Great Hall. I still could not believe that Hiccup was alive and that he rides a dragon. But just not any dragon but a Night Fury. 

Where has he been all these years? I could not help but wonder. Once we were all inside the Hall, everyone gathered around Hiccup do we all could hear his story. "So, son tell us everything. Like when you meet this dragon? Why did you leave? And where have you been for 6 years?" I asked my son breaking the awkward silence around us all. "Okay, fine Dad. I will tell you." Hiccup said with a sigh.

Hiccup's Pov:

"So, son tell us everything. Like when you meet this dragon? Why did you leave? And where have you been for 6 years?" Dad asked me to break this awkward silence. "Okay, fine Dad. I will tell you." I said with a sigh. I rubbed my hand over the back of my neck. I noticed that the gang plus Gobber and my Father were sitting in front of me waiting for me to tell my story. But I did not see Astrid with the gang, but I did notice her off to the side sitting by herself looking at me.

"Well..." Said my Father snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned my glazed back to my Father and the others before starting my story. "Well, do you remember 6 years ago when I said that I shot down a dragon. A Night Fury?" Everyone nodded their heads at the memory. "well, that dragon I shot down was Toothless." I could tell that they were shocked to hear that, and they looked between me and Toothless. 

"The next day I went out looking for the dragon that I had shot down and found off raven's point tired up in the bola. I pulled out a knife that I had bought with me. I was going to cut his heart out so I could bring it to my Dad as proof that I did shoot down a dragon." I took a breath then carried on. "As I was about to bring the knife down to take his life, I looked at him and that was when I knew I wouldn't, or I couldn't kill a dragon."

"Why?" Fishlegs asked me.

"Because Fishlegs, when I looked at him, I saw myself."

"Then what happened?" Dad asked me. "Well, then I let him go. After letting him go he decided to pounce on me and roared in my face."

"That hurt by the way!" I said to Toothless. "Your most very welcome" He replied sarcastically. I then noticed everyone staring at me when I spoke to Toothless since I knew that all they could hear was growling sounds coming from me and Toothless. "Anyway, later I went back out to look for him after my first dragon training. 

I found him in a cove and realized that he was missing his tail fin." I said as I looked down to Toothless tail fin. "I remembered what Gobber said about a down dragon is a dead dragon. So, I used the forge and built him a new tail fin, but the tail fin only worked if someone was riding him. So, I learnt how to ride him." I sighed.

"After dragon training from then on, I went to the cove to study and train him. The skills I learnt from Toothless I had put into my dragon training the next day and every day after that. I took down the dragons with a way that would not hurt them. I looked up to see everyone's face. "Why did you leave Hiccup?" Dad asked me. I turned to Toothless and said, "Bud, can you go and bring Astrid over here please."

"Sure, I will bring your mate over to you." He said. "She is not my mate!" I replied before he walked away to go and get Astrid. "Translation lad? And where's the dragon going?" asked Gobber. "Trust me Gobber you don't want to know what he said for where he is going, I had asked him to do something. And Gobber the dragon's name is Toothless." I stated. Everyone's eyes had followed Toothless over to Astrid.

Astrid's Pov:

When the village had gathered around Hiccup, I went to off to the side away from everyone else as I already knew this part of the story, plus I did not really want to listen to it. I was off in my own world thinking about a few things and did not realized what was going on until I felt a wee shove by something or someone. 

I looked up and saw Toothless in front of me. "Hi, Toothless," I said patting him on his head. The next thing I knew was that Toothless what trying to push me on my seat with his head. "Toothless what are you doing?" I asked him. He grabbed my hand in his mouth and pulled up off my seat and started to drag towards everyone. I finally realised that he wanted me to come and join in with the group. "Alright Toothless, I'm coming," I said to Toothless.

Once I was near the others, I noticed that they were staring at me. I looked down at my feet trying to avoid all their stares. "Anyway." Hiccup said taking the attention away from me which I was thankful for. I moved to sit beside Toothless who wrapped his tail around me. "When I was given the honour to kill a dragon for my final exam, I knew I wouldn't kill a dragon at all. So that night I gathered supplies and headed to the cove so Toothless and I could leave Berk." Hiccup said. It was quiet for a bit before Chief Stoick spoke up,

 "How does Astrid know the dragon then?" I heard Hiccup take a deep breath before continuing. "Well just as I got to Toothless, that was when Astrid caught me." He said. "She wanted to tell the village about Toothless, but I wouldn't let her go to the village. Instead, I took her on a flight around Berk."

"So, Astrid knew about Toothless for 6 years?" Gobber asked. Both Hiccup and I nodded.

"You knew that Hiccup left and made us believe that my that he was dead for 6 years!" I just when Stoick yelled at me. Toothless tail became tighter around me in a proactive way and he was growling at Stoick. "Dad leave her alone. If you let me finish and listen, you will understand why Astrid didn't say anything!" Hiccup yelled at his Father. 

That was the first time I have heard Hiccup yell at his Dad. "As I was saying while on the flight, I explained to Astrid about me leaving Berk." Hiccup sighed. "Why did you leave son?" Stoick asked Hiccup. "I left because 1) I couldn't kill a dragon. 2) because I was bullied, and I wasn't wanted. No one wanted me around." Everyone looked down guilty at what Hiccup just said. "How did you lose your leg lad?" Gobber asked Hiccup.
