Chapter 3

"I'm sorry you had to do that Gabe" Alexa spoke pecking her mate on the nose before snuggling into his chest as his arms tightened around her. 

"I'm sorry to Alexa, for all you've had to go through" Gabriel replied pulling the shirt in his hand over her head. 

Alexa pulled the fabric up to her nose and gave it a delicate sniff enjoying that the scent of her mate clung to it. Alexa smiled as Gabriel offered her a lopsided grin before he gave her the boxers to put on. Taking the boxers from him Alexa pulled them onto her hips. 

"Thank you..." Alexa said only to be interrupted by a knock at the door. Alexa felt her eyes change from blue to gold at the intrusion as she snarled a warning. 

"Who is there" Gabriel called as he rubbed the small of Alexas back to show that she wasn't in danger.

"Sorry to intrude alphas but alpha Gabriel you agreed to visit the orphanage today" The person behind the door responded. 

"Oh, right I forgot, please bring my some casual female clothes and then I will make good on my promise" Gabriel shouted at the she-wolf behind the door and feet were heard scampering away. 

"An orphanage," Alexa asked as Gabriel moved to one of his draws where he pulled out a bag of toys. 

"There was a recent increase in rouge attacks and a lot of pups lost their parents. I go every week to play with the pups and bring them gifts to show them that they still matter" Gabriel explained. 

Alexa felt her eyes shift back to blue as emotion clogged her throat. As in a mere hour of knowing the man he had chased back her demons and shared his own that she would gladly fight. Alexa heard the steps of the she-wolf before the knock on the door so she was less on edge this time. Opening the door Gabriel took the clothes thanking the She-wolf and then closing the door. Alexa then caught the bundle of clothes which he tossed at her. 

Opening the bundle Alexa put on the sports bra and briefs replacing Gabriel's boxers before pulling up some jeggings and putting on the blue checked shirt. Finally, she put on the sock and boots that were provided. 

"After this would you like to go shopping for some clothes" Gabriel questioned as he threw the toy sack over his shoulder.

"Fine, by me but we are in and out and I only get what I need" Alexa answered quickly as she walked over and opened the door for Gabriel and he led her towards the orphanage which was a twenty-minute walk from the packhouse.

Alexa despised shopping for clothes as store assistants would often stare like she wasn't a woman due to her short hair and slightly muscled form. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts when she noticed Gabriel was holding a garden gate open for her. Kissing his cheek in thanks she walked through the gate and was immediately surrounded by pups some of which were in human form and the others were in wolf form. 

"Alpha Gabe, who is this" Asked a little female pup as she tugged on his trouser leg and pointed at Alexa.

"Her name is Alexa and she is my mate, making her your second alpha" Gabriel told the little girl with a smile. 

"That's great alpha, you always wanted a mate" The little girl replied with a toothy grin showing that she was missing her two front baby teeth. 

"Thank you, Laura. Hey, guess what I brought toys for you all" Gabriel announced as he placed the sac on the ground. 

 "Hey everyone alpha brought more toys and his mate" Laura shouted and all the pups ran over to him as he handed out rope toys and tennis balls to the pups in wolf form and human toys for the pups in human form.

Alexa looked at the scene in front of her with mixed feelings as while the pups seemed happy now she could sense the underlying pain and sadness that clung around them.

"Why don't you play with them too alpha" an omega female spoke from behind her as the small woman walked out of the building that the garden was attached to. 

"Are you sure its okay" Alexa asked as her wolf whined at the fact that she was missing her family.

"Of course, look alpha Gabe has already shifted and they are playing tug of war" The female replied as she wiped the flour off her hands on her skirt.

"Lunch smells delicious by the way, and call me Alexa please" Alexa spoke before going inside and removing her clothes before shifting and coming back out into the garden. 

"If that's the case please call me Mary" the omega called before she went back into the house to finish her lunch preparations.

Alexa flicked her ears in Mary's direction before she ran into the game of tug of war and grabbed the rope at the end that Laura was tugging it in her little brown wolf form. Giving it a hard tug it slipped out of Gabriel's mouth and the pups howled in victory.

"That's cheating" Gabriel spoke with a huff into her mind finally been able to establish a weak connection.

"Your just a sore loser" Alexa snorted in amusement winking at Gabriel. 

"That's right alpha we won fair and square" laura spoke into the pack mind link that they had between them as her tail wagged.

Alexa chuckled into the mind link before she picked up the rope and dangled it next to the other pups who latched onto the other end and started tugging with all their might. But with one quick tug, Alexa had them all tumbling over as she held the rope higher than they could reach.  Letting out a yip Alexa turned and ran as the pups chased her. when they caught her she let them wrestle her to the ground and take the rope before shaking them off. Giving a quiet growl she gave chase delighting in the laughs and giggles the pups let into the mind link.

Alexa huffed as Gabriel charged at her and they rolled over each other. Gabriel managed to pin her before giving her scarred cheek a cheeky lick before Alexa rolled them over so she was on top and pressed their noses together. 

"Your beautiful you Know that," Gabriel said into her mind as he looked into her eyes as his tail thumped the ground with a steady beat.

"Your not half bad yourself" Alexa teased though her tail was wagging excitedly.

"Everyone lunch is ready" Mary called as she stepped out of the house only to have her eyes lock on the tree line in fear. 

Alexa followed Mary's eye line and growled low in her throat as she spotted several rouges. Only to push herself forwards when one of the rouges approached a male pup who had wandered out of the garden. With a ferocious snarl, Alexa pushed herself faster as the rouge prepared its attack.
