Chapter 5

Gabriel had to hold in his growl as the store assistant stared at his mate as if she was unwelcome in the store. Now he realised why Alexa had said she had hated shopping. Sighing in frustration he followed behind Alexa to the changing rooms. His wolf snarling in his mind venomously as another woman bumped into Alexa. Shooting the woman a glare he walked closer to his mate daring anyone of the other customers to approach. 

"Its fine Gabe I'm used to it" Alexa whispered her eyes downcast as she avoided the nasty glares the humans were throwing at her. 

"You should have to be used to it Alexa" Gabriel responded as his wolf became more present as his mate was disrespected.

"They're human, they have no idea of my struggles" Alexa hissed under her breath before she walked through the curtains to try on the clothes she had picked out. 

Running his hand through his beard Gabriel took note of the irritation that was pouring of his mate as she tried on clothes. She had chosen trousers, shirts and two pairs of boots along with bland underwear. It was as if she was trying to hide her natural beauty. 

"Your beautiful to me sweetheart" Gabriel whispered to himself as he remembered that she had shown herself to him without fear and he couldn't wait for their mating. The full moon only being a week away. 

Gabriel waited for Alexa until his mate came out of the changing room with the pile of clothes that she wanted. They headed straight for the till where Gabriel paid for the items. Leaving the store with a bag full of clothes Gabriel watched Alexa take a full breath of air.

"So where are we getting lunch" Alexa question and on queue her stomach let out a loud grumble. 

"Macdonalds and then we can eat properly when we get back" Gabriel offered at he spotted the restaurant in the shopping centre. 

"Why not" Alexa grinned pecking Gabriel on the cheek as he took her hand.

Leading her through the shopping centre Gabriel loved the feel of Alexa's hand in his and he couldn't wait to get closer to her. Entering the restaurant Gabriel asked Alexa to get them a table while he got their food. Ordering the food and paying for it Gabriel chose the table service option so that he could spend more time with his mate. 

Following Alexa's scent to the table, she chose he found that she was looking out of the window with a far of look on her face as if something was weighing heavily on her mind. 

"Are you alright?" Gabriel questioned as he took a seat opposite from her. 

"Yeah I'm fine" Alexa sighed, though Gabriel could tell it was not the truth.

"You don't have to hide anything from me, Alexa, I will not be repulsed by anything you can tell me" Gabriel offered, giving her a lopsided grin. 

"I'm worried that rouges will keep coming for the pack as long as I am here" Alexa explained rubbing her hand through her hair in stress.

"Why do you think that," Gabriel asked taking both her hands in his.

"I..." Alexa started but before she could finish speaking their food was placed on the table. 

Gabriel let go of Alexa's hands so that she could eat her food. Opening his own cheeseburger he waited for her continue what she was saying.

"As I was saying, I may have killed the rouge leader" Alexa explained before taking a big gulp of her pop. 

"You did..." Gabriel tried but was interrupted by a gaggle of teenagers who came up to their table staring and laughing at Alexa. 

"Yo, man. what you doing hanging out with this freak" a boy said he appeared to be their leader. 

"Yeah she's so ugly she put me off my food" a girl screeched as she looked at Alexa in distant. 

Getting out of his chair Gabriel grabbed the boy who had spoken first by the collar of his shirt. The wolf within burning with rage at the insult of his mate. 

"You will not speak of her that way, my girlfriend is no freak, nor is she ugly. She is the most beautiful woman I have had the honour of laying my eyes upon" Gabriel growled at the group his patience wearing thin.

How dare they insult her, his mate and alpha female. They deserved punishment. Throwing the boy to the ground Gabriel dared him to retaliate and he hoped the boy would. Grinning when the boy got up and tried to punch him. Gabriel caught his fist before punching him in the jaw. 

"That hurt" The boy cried holding his cheek as tears picked the side of his eyes.

"Good insult her again and I'll do more than punch you" Gabriel sneered feeling satisfaction at the bruise that was slowly forming on his face.

"Whatever, we're out of here," said one of the other teenage boys picking up his friend and leading him out of the restaurant. 

Turning around to see Alexa giving him a disapproving but playful glare, Gabriel relaxed as she got up and kissed him as if she were a beast starved for oxygen. 

"Normally I say, I could take care of my self but that was hot as fuck" Alexa whispered in his ear blowing on it for good measure. Knowing her mate would defend her was invigorating. 

"So shall we go, we still have to call the Spirit crystal pack, remember" Gabriel spoke though his voice was now a lot lower than before. 

"Lead the way mate" Alexa growled in his ear before she turned to get her bag.

Gabriel swallowed as he readjusted himself as Alexa's words had excited him. Leading her back towards the car they got in and he drove them to the packhouse. Once there they went straight to his office. Picking up the phone Gabriel waited for Alpha Noah to pick up.

"Hello my name is Gabriel Black, am I speaking with Alpha Noah from Spirit crystal" Gabriel spoke into the phone after the person on the other end picked up.

"No, he's in the operating theatre, I am his mate Alpha Elena what business did you have with our pack," Elena asked on the other end.

"I would like to inform you that myself and my mate would love an alliance" Gabriel offered smiling as Alexa focused on her sisters' voice coming out of the phone.

"As would we" Elena replied sounding as if she was tired.

"Thank you sister" Alexa Spoke into the phone as she had taken it from Gabriel. Sticking her tongue out at him as he gave her a playful growl. 

"Alexa is that you, are you alright, why are you at the Black Crimson pack" Elena demanded worry evident in her tone.

"Calm down Elena, I am fine and I'm at Black crimson because I stumbled onto their land only to find that Alpha Gabriel is my mate" Alexa explained amused that her sister still worried for her. 

"That's great news sister, listen I have to go, Ezra has just started fussing but I hope we can talk again soon" Elena rushed as a baby started crying on the other end.

"Very well Elena but I want to have a proper conversation with you soon," Alexa told Elena as the other Alpha female hung up the phone.

Watching the exchange Gabriel smiled as Alexa hung up. Whatever danger was coming he would face it with her. The week that leads up to the full moon and her heat would be interesting and he couldn't wait for them to come to love each other.
