Chapter 2

I walk out of the office making sure na medyo may gigil yung steps ko, Chuck runs after me and says, "Babe. Wait lang."

I walk straight to my table at kinuha ko ang bag ko habang umiiling, "Nope. This is not going to happen so just let me leave here with my dignity in tact."

He laughs pero I don't stop walking away from the office, hindi ako makatingin kay Dee sa sobrang kahihiyan. If this is his idea of a joke, then it's not funny.

Just when I was about to walk out of the office, Papa Jesus barges in and gives us all a confused look as he says, "What's going on here?"

I give him a tight smile, "It's already ten A.M. and this joke has lasted long enough so I'm leaving."

I look at Dee and she has a confused look too so tingin ko she's not in on the joke so I tell her, "Sorry for wasting your time, Dee."

Paglingon ko ulet kay Papa Jesus I roll my eyes, "Excuse lang Sir, I need my dramatic exit."

He looks sobrang confused and he looks behind me talking to Chuck, "What the hell did you do?"

Nagulat ako sa reaction ni Papa Jesus so I put my hands up to stop him, "Hey, don't talk to him like that."

I pause at paglingon ko kay Chuck nakangiti siya sa akin, I'm pretty sure na he likes me standing up for him so binawi ko ulit, looking at Papa Jesus I say, "Sure he's an asshole for not telling me he's now my new boss, making me look like an idiot on my first day 'di ba? Pero only I get to rip him a new one, not you." I point at his face.

Napaatras ng kaunti Papa Jesus but instead of being offended he smiles, "You must be Andi."

I push at his chest, "I am Andi and now I am leaving."

There was an audible gasp na parang galing sa location ni Dee but I ignore it, I feel a touch on my arm and I look back at Papa Jesus, "What?"

Nag-cross siya ng arms sa chest niya tapos he says, "Don't you think I should have a say in this situation?"

Ginaya ko ang posture niya, "At bakit?"

He grins, "Since I'm the one who hired you, I think I should be the one to dismiss you."

Para akong binuhusan ng malamig na tubig, then I look at Chuck who gives me an apologetic shrug, I look at Dee who looks mortified, malamang magka-itsura kami ni Dee.

Then I look at Papa Jesus who is apparently my real boss.

He's grinning and I must have a funny look on my face because he starts laughing, then he walks towards Chuck and punches his arm playfully, "You'd do that to your girl? You're an asshole."

"Sorry." Yun lang ang sinabi ni Chuck but I can see the smile on his face. He is so not sorry.

I blink fast, "Wait. What just happened?"

Yun lang ang nasabi ko then Papa Jesus starts talking, "Let me put you out of your misery, Andi. I'm Tristan, and I own this company."

He nods towards Chuck and says, "Chuck here is my newest IT consultant and more importantly, my bestfriend."

Itinaas niya ang kamay niya in surrender, "I had no idea he was coming today, or that he was planning to prank you. I swear I didn't know."

Nakanganga pa rin ako at tumingin kay Chuck, biglang naglabas ang galit ko and I yell, "What the..."

Nagulat si Chuck at biglang tinakpan ang bibig ko, "You don't want to swear in front of your boss now would you?"

My muffled curse words rang through the office pero when I look at Tristan he's smiling.

I bite my lip at hinataw palayo ang kamay ni Chuck, "Hindi pa tayo tapos."

Tristan whistles and looks at Chuck, "You're in trouble, bud."

Nag-shrug lang si Chuck, "She'll forgive me."

Binigyan ko siya ng death glare, "You're going to pay for that."

He smiles habang naglalakad palayo, papunta sa office ni Tristan, "Sorry Babe."

At dahil sa sobrang galit ko, hindi ko namalayan yung kagagahan kong magmura at magbanta sa harap ng bago kong boss. Syet.

Biglang bumalik sa alaala ko ang mga pinag-gagawa ko ilang minutes pa lang ang nakakalipas.

Nagsara na ang pinto ng bago kong boss at paglingon ko kay Dee parang napangiwi sya, "Bad start to your day huh?"

Napabalik ako sa workstation ko at napaupo, "Oh my God. That was so unprofessional."

Nilagay ko ang noo ko sa table ko at habang hinahataw ko ng paulit ulit ang noo ko sa table nasabi ko na lang na, "Tanga mo. Tanga mo. Tanga ka. Tanga ka."

Dee holds my head, "Hey stop it."

I look at her mejo teary eyed, "Ang gago lang kasi ni Chuck eh, mukha akong tanga kanina."

He should've known I take my job seriously and that what he did was a bad idea. Paano ko naman malalamang biro agad. Tsaka paano naman ako magre-react kundi gano'n.

She just says, "Don't worry about it. Tayo tayo lang naman kanina, you can still make it up to boss. Mabait naman 'yon."

I cringe.

Alam mo yung clean slate? Yung as in feeling mo walang nakakakilala sa'yo sa isang lugar? You can reinvent yourself, pero parang dito sa nangyayari parang hindi ako maka-start over eh. Parang nandyan pa rin yung past ko kung magkakilala sila ni Chuck, I wonder what they're talking about now.

Are they talking about me? Na kung paano ako nag-react kanina? Siguro they found it entertaining, I don't even know my boss yet pero parang feeling ko he already has an idea about me.

And talk about first impressions, hindi masyado maganda ang simula namin kanina, and it's leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Parang hindi ko yata kaya ng may iniintidi pa akong iba other than my job.

I have to think of other options, ayokong magsimula ng ganito.
