8 // Airplane

Kitty had set me up with a fake passport and whatever other illegal shit. We were at the airport gate already, and I was a bit surprised it had worked.

Kitty was wearing something semi-decent at least. A cropped black hoodie over a pink tee and leather pants. Well, I say semi-decent but...

"Are you seriously going to wear that on an eight hour flight?"

He sneered. "It would be 24 hours if I didn't spend some of my money." He seemed to bury himself into his hoodie more so I stopped talking.

I hate airports.

I hate everything.

I sighed and stirred in my seat. We were an hour early, because Kitty insisted we would be late if we didn't leave two hours early. Sure, there was traffic, but it wasn't that bad.

I leaned my head back and sighed. I pulled out my phone but didn't see anything interesting to do.

Kitty put his hand near his hip."I hate not having my fucking gun." He muttered. I automatically reached for where it would be. "I feel like someone could just walk up to me and murder me."

I snorted. "In an airport?"

"A few years ago there was an airport shooting in Florida." He seemed distant.

I just rolled my eyes. "Weird."

It was silent until we boarded. I felt anxious and crowded, even though it was a big flight. We sat somewhere near the wing, Kitty by the window and me in the middle. No one sat beside me.

Kitty put up the armrest (predictably) and looked out the window. "I love planes." He said. Creepily.

I sighed. "Why?"

"Because now-dead people have sat in these seats." I shivered, and he looked at me like wtf. "I'm joking, you dimwit. Well, not really." He looked back out the window as the plane started to move. "I like planes because they're quiet."

I started to listen. He was right. People were on their phones or whispering to each other. It was silent.

Kitty put his leg on mine and yawned. "I can't believe it was so easy to get you to take me."

I rolled my eyes. "You did stick a gun to my head and almost rape me."

He put his leg down and got close to my face. "Oh please, you would've wanted to."

I looked away. "Tch, I'm not gay."

"Still~"

"You're a whore." I spat, and he turned away.

-

We were halfway into the flight and I started feeling drowsy again. Still, I wouldn't fall asleep. Kitty's presence made me wary.

Where did he even come from?

Why did he kidnap me of all people? I'm not even that wealthy.

I looked at him. He was fast asleep, head against the slightly frosty window. If you didn't know he was an insane murderer, you might've mistaken him as cute.

Like I'd make that mistake.

I wonder what he's dreaming about though.
To my right, a flight attendant walked by. I wanted to sleep. I desperately wanted to sleep. But my mind was buzzing and I was thinking about what was going to happen.

When we land, do we already have a hotel?

How will we get around?

How will we not be noticed?

Why is Kitty Gang so chill about this?

Beside me Kitty inhaled sharply and opened his eyes. He rubbed them and sat up. "How are you not asleep?" He asked with an edge to his voice.

"I would be if this were a normal trip and if I wasn't on the run with an equally dangerous criminal."

He just hummed and leaned his head against my shoulder, dozing off again. "Stop thinking. It's so annoying."

You're annoying.

But soon he was asleep again and I was drifting off too. The turbulence made it extra hard to sleep, but it wasn't that bad. I felt my head against Kitty's as I finally closed my eyes.

-

I startled awake when I felt the airplane shudder. It was bright outside, and the light hurt my eyes. We had landed, and I'd been sleeping against Kitty the whole time. Worse, he'd been awake and let me.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" I snapped.

He scoffed and put down his phone. "Well I'm sorry I didn't let you sleep like you should."

I just rolled my eyes. He would never agree to me. Or anything I say.

People started standing up once the plane completely stopped and so did we. I only had a duffel bag with clothes and a few belongings, and so did Kitty, so we got out pretty quickly.

Once we were in the airport I noticed it really had a Hawaiian kind of vibe to it. The decorations were Hawaiian style, and screens said mahalo for flying there. It felt... unreal.

I'd never been to the US, actually. This was the first time. I could read English though, and I was glad I learned it in the first place. Their language was hella weird though.

Kitty stared at screens and signs as if they had grown arms and legs. He clearly didn't understand English as well as me. It filled me with a bit of pride.

"Where's the exit?" He asked, looking around.

I didn't answer, but started walking in front of him. We went up some escalators and I noticed people just stood on any side. So we did too. We walked to the baggage claim.

It took forever, but finally I grabbed his black suitcase. Inside were our guns, unloaded and in cases but otherwise here.

Once Kitty stepped out he took a deep breath of the warm, humid air. "Wow, this feels great." He smirked. "Don't you think so?"

"It's wet." I deadpan. "It's not like we're tourists, Kitty Gang. We're here to hide."

He wrapped his arms around my neck. "Don't you ever just want to have fun? Like, ever?"

"I know this isn't your idea of fun." I sneered, pushing him off of me.

"You're right." He sighed, pouting. "I would rather be wallowing in blood and your love-hate for me." He smirked at me again.

I rolled my eyes and pressed the button for the crosswalk. "Yep."
