40.Fire and Ice

While Deku was restraining Dabi, he tried to send away Mirio, Tokoyami, and Hawks but Mirio just wouldn't listen to him or Backdraft. "Mirio this isn't a game, you can get seriously hurt. Just go back with the rest of the students already."

"That's rich coming from you, don't forget that I'm senior. Besides I can help, I don't need to go hide in the back."

"No you're the one who's forgetting, I'm not some student and you're not my upperclassman. I am not going to have a repeat of last time, you barely survived and I had to protect both you and Eri by myself because you let your guard down. You know what I think, I think that the title of one of UA's big three and how people are saying you're the closest to being the next symbol of peace is going to your head. I had already told the others that I didn't need yours or Backdraft's help with Dabi but they insisted, but now that's taken care of and you need to head back already." Deku got up before MIrio could say anything back and jumped down to the ground floor, using flames to soften his landing.

"He's right you know," Backdraft told Mirio. "It's time for you to head back, your job here is done."

"But I didn't even do anything, besides I have a weird feeling. I feel like Deku is hiding something from me. Please let me help, I can handle myself and am willing to give my life for the cause."

"And that is what we are afraid will happen, just go back, we can take care of things here. Even during this chaos not even Deku would be able easily do something with all these heroes here. Now go back, I mean it." Backdraft ran off while carrying Dabi away, taking him to where other captured villains would be before heading back to help the other heroes fight.

Watching him run off Mirio shook his head and sank through the floor and landed on the floor above, repeating this process until he was on the ground before running towards the other heroes. "I'm sorry but I can't just stand around and watch, I have to help." He looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of Deku but he couldn't find him. That was when he noticed that he couldn't see any of the other people from his group either except for Diabla who was circling around the battlefield. "Where are they, I have a bad feeling about this. Or maybe I'm just over reacting, they could have found Shigaraki and are moving as planned but then why isn't she with them?"

Meanwhile Deku was indeed looking for Shigaraki while fighting nearby villains, all while waiting for the moment. He had his staff out and was weaving through the crowd of villains, striking them as he passed by. Once he was in the middle of a group he dropped a small canister that sprayed out sleeping gas, knocking the whole group out in a matter of seconds. Deku walked out from amongst their unconscious bodies when he had to suddenly jump to the side to avoid being hit by a large chunk of ice.

He quickly got up and saw a person dressed up like an eskimo standing on a floating chunk of ice. "You did good to avoid that attack, but I wonder how long you can keep that up." An absurd amount of ice started to float up from behind him. The man lifted his hands into the air before bringing them down and the ice went flying at Deku from different angles.

Deku took a knee as he pressed a button on both of his gauntlets right before he was hit. The iceman started to turn around thinking that Deku was already defeated but he stopped when he heard him talking. "Let me guess, cryokinesis right. Your quirk allows you to manipulate ice however you like. That's how you're floating right now and how you attacked, but I'm sure it's more than just moving ice through the air. I'm guessing you can alter its temperature to make it colder and freeze water, which would then add more to your arsenal. Well sorry to disappoint you but I won't be that easy to beat."

Deku stoodt there, and coming from the openings on his gauntlets were circular metal folding shields that were about a foot and half, which he had used to block the ice. Deku pressed another button and flames appeared in the center of each shield. Deku stood up and wiped off ice dust that had landed on him during the impact.
