Mena's POV
Putting Ariel down in her crib I blew her a kiss. "Sweet dreams princess,"
After yesterday all Naomi had done was sleep with the exception of feeding the girls. On the other side of the room, sat Usha using her phone. "You've taken good care of her," she looked up.
"I'm sorry?"
"My daughter, I'm not exactly fond of you but you've taken care of her."
"It's all I've ever wanted to do, shes my wi—"
"Please don't say that,"
"What that shes my wife? Well she is,"
Usha hissed, "How did you get her to do it? Did you do it to spite us?"
"It wasn't me actually, it was her who didn't want to wait."
"None sense, Gracie would never—"
"Mom," Naomi slowly opened her eyes, "Don't, please."
"I think you owe us an explanation Naomi,"
"I don't," she cleared her throat, her pain medication kept her groggy. "I don't owe you anything, I don't owe anyone anything." She took a glance at me.
"How could you say that when we literally came all the way—"
"I never asked you to do that, Mom." Usha remained silent as she picked up her things and stormed out of the room, "Did you do it?"
"What?"
"Bring them here,"
"I didn't, no."
"You know I thought maybe they'd change or at least be civil.. guess not."
"I'm sorry Nay,"
"Is that all you're sorry for?"
"No, I'm sorry for everything, but you have to understand my position, Naomi. It isn't that easy," Walking over to her bed I softly sat on it.
"That's the thing Mena nothing ever is... when are you going to understand that?"
"I do understand that, but I also understand that people have choices and choices can change. And your choice can change..."
Naomi cupped my face with her hands, "I wasn't going to change you for anyone Mena, how many times do I have to tell you for you to understand?" She let a tear out as she put her arms down. "I love you, I can give you everything but you keep fighting it and I'm done fighting."
"Don't—"
"I can't keep doing this. Every single time hurts more than the last," She shrugged, "Love isn't meant for everybody... I guess it isn't meant for either of us."
"So that's it? It can't be Nay. We have baby girls, we can fix this for them. We'll work it out for—"
"This isn't an Us problem. It's a "you" problem and until you realize that, there's nothing to fix." Suddenly I felt that door open. Naomi quickly wiped her tears as Tiffany came in.
"Hey love, are you alright? What's going on?" She glanced at me.
"Oh nothing, mom just... you know," Naomi quickly responded.
Tiffany sighed, "I'm sorry,"
"It's whatever, I guess somethings just aren't worth fixing," Naomi looked at me and quickly looked away.
Clearing my throat I placed my hand at the door handle, "I'm going to eat something, do any of you want anything,"
"No that's alright," Tiffany pointed at Naomi who nodded no.
