"What the hell did you do to yourself?"

I groaned and opened my eyes to see my very best friend in the world, Della MarQue, looking down at me.

"Del. It may not show, but I'm thrilled to see ya."

She smirked at me.

"Rough night?"

"Rough life."

"Does your mama know your up here sleepin' off what looks like a five year liquor bender? I mean really Addy, it smells like a bottle of Jack Daniels in here."

"Well, there's an empty bottle layin' around here somewhere.."

"Oh Lord."

She sat down and shook me.

"Hello Addy? Is it you in there? Ya back?"

I smiled.

"I spose' you could say that."

Della stood up and did a little jig while laughing hysterically. I myself started to laugh. This was madness.

"The south has risen! Welcome back chaos!"

"Del. Not so loud. My headsa bout'a split."

"Oh, isn't your life hell."

"In a damn nut shell."

"Would you look at that? She remembers how to talk like a human too."

I rolled my eyes. Della being happy that I decided to break free from my restraints as a debutante was an understatement. She was being ridiculous.

"Hello. I'm not dead Del."

"Not anymore. So tell me what happened?"

"Well unlike you the man I love is not acceptable."

Della sat there confused for a minute and studied my face. It's always magically to watch the light bulb flip on in someone's mind. Either they understand, solve a puzzle, or get it. It's amazing to literally watch someone's eyes change from confusion to understanding. I watched Della's light bulb turn on and I laid my head back.

"Addison, still? After all this time?"

I closed my eyes. Seven years was not too long, yet wasn't by any means a short period of time. I propped my head up and looked at her.

"And until forever I suppose."

"Oh Addison. What are we going to do?"

I smiled and grabbed her hand.

"Well, that's where you come in."

She squeezed my hand.

"What can I do to help?"

"Save me Della. Get me out of here or out of this."

She pulled me up into her arms and held me for a while. It's nice to have someone you've known your whole life continue to stay in your life even when they should run. Vice versa I guess since Della had gotten me into more trouble than anyone I've ever known. All the same, it is really just as lucky to find your best friend soul mate as it is to find your love of your life. In her arms I felt safe and I felt hope. Two things I hadn't felt since she went on vacation. Della and I are a force of nature. If we couldn't get me out of this nothing would. She stroked my hair and rocked a little. After a while she hugged me tighter.

"Your not marrying him. We're getting you out. I promise."

I held on to her a little tighter and felt myself cry. Not from sadness, but relief. Thank God for best friends.
