Eliza

Another week, another week alone.

Everyone had been comforting me during this hard time. I had spent as much time with Warrick as I could, but in his absence my presence was required in meetings seeing as I was now in charge.

I could still feel Isaac's anger towards me every time he was near me. He made snide comments and tried to put me down constantly with my lack of knowledge of the werewolf world. But it wasn't my fault.

He was unimpressed that all authority was passed onto me instead of him initially taking over the pack in Warrick's absence. That's how it had been for many years during Warrick's captivity.

He was the step in alpha, and he didn't like the fact that a woman now led the pack.

But that's how I wanted it. I had spent little time with him, even when Warrick was awake, but I could tell there was something off about him. Something that made me feel uneasy. Perhaps it was the way he looked at me or the way he turned his nose up at me whilst everyone else thought highly of me.

Every time I saw him out and about, he seemed to be deep in thought talking to himself with an angry expression. But once he saw me, he bowed in a way that seemed mocking.

Once Warrick was awake, I'd speak to him about Isaac's suspicious behaviour.

Holding Warrick's hand in mine, I rubbed at his soft tan skin and sighed hoping that he'd wake up soon.

I needed him. I was struggling with the pressure of leading a pack I knew nothing about.

"Oh, I didn't know you'd still be here".

I paid him no attention as his voice echoed around the room. He was the last person I wanted to see right now.

"Of course I would be. He's my mate".

My grip on Warrick's hand tightened as he let out a breathy laugh and walked towards me.

"Funny, a few weeks ago you didn't even know what a mate was".

I kept my focus solely on Warrick as Isaac edged closer towards the bed. I knew Warrick could hear everything around him. Maybe I wouldn't have to tell Warrick what had been happening. Perhaps Isaac could do that on his own.

"No shit sherlock, my father had been lying to me".

Isaac stood beside me and glared at me.

"Perhaps, or maybe you're just incredibly naive. And to think you can lead a pack you know nothing about. Do you even realise the role of a beta?".

"Oh I know what the role is, you've made it clear to me several times. But that was when there was no Alpha or Luna. But there is a Luna and I will not let you turn away innocent people from our home".

Isaac growled at me lowly.

"You are not my Luna".

"Let me tell you what I think. I think you enjoyed being the step in Alpha when Warrick was locked up. The power got to your head and now you hate the idea that he is back and you are no longer going to get that position. I've seen the way you are with people. You intimidate them, you hate outsiders and that's why you've never taken a liking to me".

"How dare you accuse me of wanting power. Are you insinuating that I wanted my Alpha to be locked up so I could take his position you little bitch".

"Oh I'm not insinuating, I know for a fact. I've seen the way you look at him".

Isaac growled loudly and pushed me against the wall slamming my body into it several times before wrapping his hands around my throat.
