Eliza
1 month later
The month just gone had been incredibly quiet. If anything it was too quiet. But it had been a very productive month nevertheless.
Warrick and I had announced our marriage proposal to the pack and it pleased me to see that they were just as excited as we were.
As much as it was a very happy time, there were many issues that we had to discuss and face head on.
Isaac remained locked up in the cells, but it was confirmed that he was working for my father. Warrick was very concerned that my father knew our location and that we could be vulnerable for an attack, but Brooke reassured us that he was clueless about our location from her interrogation with him.
Isaac's mate was of course absolutely devastated at his betrayal and became broken. Saddened with her unfortunate fate with her mate, we allowed her supervised visits to see him in jail.
Aside from the endless meetings, I spent my time getting to know my second family and helped out to rebuild our home and make it safe for future generations.
Sitting on a park bench, I looked across the lake and admired the hard work we had all put in. New homes, a school, nurseries and even a library. So much death and destruction, but now it felt peaceful. We had given our home peace and security which they had been without for such a long time.
I could picture our children running along the freshly cut grass screaming out for daddy to stop chasing them. I knew Warrick would one day make the most amazing dad. He'd scoop them up into his arms and swing them around laughing as they giggled relentlessly.
"Penny for your thoughts?".
"Thinking about the future, that's all".
Darn him for ruining my daydream.
Warrick wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me close so that my head rested on his shoulder.
We sat together in silence surrounded by the beauty of the park staring at all it's magnificence.
"You better not be dreaming about a future without me" Warrick pouted.
Smiling at his childishness, I picked up one of his large hands and cupped both of mine around it.
"There is no future without you".
Warrick relaxed a little more and pulled me closer to him as he mumbled something under his breath.
"I finally feel at peace" I whispered out as I stared at people having a picnic on the other side of the lake.
I could feel his eyes on me probably curious as to my random conversation starters.
"You didn't feel peace before?".
"With you I did. But with my father on the loose I was scared he would try to take you away from me again. It's been a month and I feel like things are looking up".
Warrick hummed in agreement as he nuzzled his nose against my hair.
"I think you may be right baby. Now we can look forward to the future and all the joy it will bring. It still amazes me that you managed to reach out to all the leaders of many different packs and have organised a meeting 1 week after our wedding. I'm so bloody proud of you".
Turning to my beautiful mate, I cupped his cheek softly and stared into the beautiful green eyes of his before nuzzling my nose on his.
"I can't wait to be your wife".
