I found myself sitting in the garden by the fountain, hands in the cold water as I get lost in my thoughts. Everyone was back inside the mansion, but I know Fabio and the other guys along with the maids were keeping an eye on me. Sighing, I think about my past. When I saw Camila today, every thing I tried to forget came flooding back. It hurts my mind, thinking about it.
Taking a deep breath of fresh air, I try to think about something else that is positive, but then I end up, thinking negatively instead. My life is a huge mess and I'm always thinking what did I do to deserve all this?
"Lady Dragon,"
I look up to see Fabio standing there with my phone which was ringing. The caller was Iana. We left her at the hospital today because she said someone will pick her up. Before we left, we exchanged numbers and I told her I'd call her, but now, I don't feel like talking to her. Malu and Lora hated her so much that they couldn't wait for us to leave her behind.
Taking my phone from him, I turn it off, making it stop ringing. I'm probably going to be on her hate list but I could care less about it.
I blew out a breath, looking down in the fountain.
"Are you okay, Lady Dragon?" Fabio asked, concerned.
It was surprising to see him act that way since all he ever does is act stoic and is always quiet.
He comes over, sitting down beside me and I just shrug, "Are you okay?"
"I'm good." He answered and I roll my eyes at him, crossing my leg over the other as we sat there in silence. He stayed quiet while I try to form my words.
"I'm just thinking about how messed up my life is," I finally tell him. "I lost everything I cared about."
"Not everything, " Fabio corrects quietly, making me face him. "You have your brother, the girls, your mom and Emma, me...and Damian."
I roll my eyes again, "Damian could lose his life because of trying to protect me. Including you. I'm sorry you guys had to deal with me. I should have just died years ago in that plane crash, that car accident, that...all of that."
Fabio doesn't say anything for a second, glancing at me, "Don't say that. There's a reason why you're still alive. You are a strong woman."
I click my tongue, "I can't even give my ex husband a child, Fabio. I lost everything after that. Now, Damian has to be my fake husband."
I get startled when he suddenly reached for my hand that had the dragon ring. Looking at him confused, I don't say anything as he stares at the ring. I never took it off and whenever I looked at it, it reminds me of that day Damian confessed his feelings and how he'd wait for me.
He was willing to wait for me to return the same feelings...that is if he was really being honest. But...I'm not sure if I can return that. I don't want to get hurt again.
"Do you know what this ring is for?" He asked as I awkwardly pull my hand back, shrugging.
"An engagement ring? For protection," I told him, examining the ring.
Fabio grunts, "Yes, for protection, but it isn't just any ring, Alyssa."
He sounded so serious so I look at him. Looking into my eyes, he said sternly, "That ring is for the Lady Dragon. It should be only for the woman who marries Damian, the one he loves. It's been passed down to him and he's to give it to someone he loves."
It dawns on me that...I've ruined Damian's life. This ring...is not supposed to be for me. Its for that lucky woman who he loves and she loves back.
