Chapter 20

I stare at the teenage boy in front of me. What is he doing out? I then see two cops on either side of him. He's still in confinement. But why is he here?

Hiccup suddenly came up behind me, looking at Jack. "Why are you here?" He asked. I look to see he didn't have Asher. Good. He left him in the kitchen. I don't want Jack to see him. Hiccup then looked to a cop. "Why is he here?" He asked.

"He insisted on talking to you." One replied to him.

Hiccup looked at Jack. "Why didn't you just get me or come there, instead of you coming here?"

Jack looked at him. "I thought you wouldn't come." 

Hiccup didn't reply. I heard Toothless growl behind us. Hiccup turns to him holding his hand out to shush him. He then turned back to Jack. "What do you want?"

"To apologize." He said.

"Apologize?" I ask.

"For every dumb and jerky thing, I've done to you two," He said.

"I realize now, that you two are perfect together. And I shouldn't be trying to get rid of Elsa." He started.

He looked to me then to my stomach. "I never knew how important that baby was, but now I do." He knows the baby's born now, he just doesn't know Asher's gender or his name. And he never will. Jack then looked at Hiccup. "And I'm sorry for, not trusting you about Elsa. I only wanted you to be happy. After what Astrid did, you never wanted to fall in love again. But then you met Elsa." He started. "And she seemed to make you happier."

Hiccup didn't say anything. He looked almost shocked, with a little bit of confusion.

Jack looked at him again. "I'm not asking you to forgive me," he started. "I've been a total Jerk to you guys." He said. Hiccup still didn't move. Jack only nodded slowly. "I understand." He whispered silently. "Hopefully I'll see you two later on." He added before getting escorted away by the cops.

After Hiccup closed the door, he stood there for a moment, with his hand on the doorknob. I go to him slowly, playing with his hair. "You okay?"

He nodded slowly. "Yeah. I'll be fine."

"You sure?"

His gaze remained on the door. "Yeah."

I look at him for a moment. "Okay," I say to him before walking away, letting him be. That was a little much. For Jack to show up at a time like this. I hope it doesn't bug Hiccup too much.
