A couple of hours went by. The girls were watching a movie. I would be too, but Asher woke up a little too early. Hiccup would be watching the movie, but after five minutes he got bored.
Instead, he was making different dishes of food for the girls. At least he was occupied. His father decided to leave him be for a while. Which was good for him, being that he's getting annoyed with his father. Hiccup was at the counter, minding his own business. I just put Asher to bed and decided to keep him company. The two of us were silent for a moment. As far as I'm concerned, he was liking it.
Our silence was broken by the dog madly barking at Hiccup. He looked to me, then to Toothless. "Here," he said to the dog, dropping a piece of meat for him. Toothless caught it, then went to go lay on his rug by the back door. "Spoiled Mutt." I hear Hiccup mutter.
I laugh a little. "He is your dog," I say.
"That does mean anything. Toothless always get a piece of meat. He loves it." Hiccup told me.
I only shake my head, when he leaned against the counter. "You okay?" I ask him.
He looked up. "Huh? Yeah. I'm fine. I'm just hurting," he said sitting on a kitchen chair.
"Hurting? You said you were fine not too long ago." I say to him.
I watch him mess around his something on his prosthetic then look up. "Sometimes, it's a pain in the ass to only have half your leg, Elsa," he answered me.
"Right, I almost forgot, you're the one in the house missing a limb." I joked.
"Well, I'm lucky." he started.
"Why's that?"
"At least I survived half of high school with three out of four limbs in tack." He said.
"Very funny." He smirked then continued to mess around with it. "What even happened?" I ask.
"What do you mean?"
"Your leg. What happened to it?"
He looked up. I knew this was an awkward subject for him. "Uh... It involved a fire..." he said.
"Fire?"
"Yeah." He said looking down. "Lost it in a fire..." We stayed silent for a moment. I didn't dare break the silence for him. He looked a little lost. "But, hey." He said slowly, standing up. "I'm still here." He said.
At that moment, Punz and Merida came in with an empty bowl. A second later, Hiccup's father came in. "It's really snowing out there," Merida told us.
"Snow? It wasn't supposed to snow tonight." I point out.
"No. It's coming down really good." Merida added looking out the window.
Hiccup shook his head. "No. It's stopping. It can't be snowing that much." Hiccup pointed out walking to the door. "Look, I think the snows letting up."
"Hiccup," I heard his father snap. "Don't you think about going outside!" But knowing Hiccup, he didn't listen. He went outside closing the door. "Damn boy!" I heard his father mutter.
We all go to the door. Hiccup then came back inside. He wasn't even outside for 30 seconds and he was covered in snow. He kinda looked like a snowman. "No." He said. "The snows not going to stop."
"I'll get a towel," I hear Kim say from behind Hiccup's father then left.
"It's kinda cold out there.." Hiccup muttered himself then shook the snow off.
