Elsa's P.O.V.
I sighed as I crawl into bed. Hiccup fell asleep an hour ago. Something about not feeling well. The baby is asleep, but any new mother knows that it won't be for long. I decided to get into my pajamas and call it a night, so I won't be too exhausted in the morning.
"Ah, I love this bed so much." I sigh to myself remembering the hospital bed I had to sleep in for three days.
Hospital beds are uncomfortable and the pillows are flat. Thankfully, Hiccup stayed all three days so I had been sleeping on his chest every night we were there. It's just more of a relief to be able to good to bed in your own room. Not in a hospital, a cell or in an alley. I finally get comfortable letting myself fall asleep.
1:00 AM
I woke at the sound of Asher crying. I groaned as I rose out of bed and go attend his needs. I pick him up quieting him so he doesn't wake anyone or Hiccup. "Hey! What's the matter, buddy? Are you hungry?" I ask, softly. I rocked Asher in my arm who continues to cry to confirm my answer.
I carry the crying baby to the kitchen, got his bottle out of the fridge, and warmed up the milk on a stove. "There you go. Now we'll have to wait a few minutes so it can warm up. In the meantime, why don't you try to calm down and relax? Late night dinner will be served in a few." I told as I rocked the infant. He's calming down a little, but he's obviously still upset because he hasn't had any food yet.
Suddenly, I see the kitchen lights turn on, making me wince. "Ugh, are you the Devil?" I asked the invader. Once my eyes adjusted to the brighter room, I turned around to see Hiccup standing by the doorway.
He squinted at the light then chuckled a little, "No." Hiccup mumbled. "But I am the father," He said. "And I was wondering if you need any help."
"No, thank you. I got it." I tell him. "Why don't you go back to bed and rest?" I told him, turning off the heater and poured the milk inside the baby's bottle. I closed the lid and shook it.
"Are you sure? I feel bad making you get up and doing the work all by yourself." Hiccup added.
I turned around and shook my head as I walked by him. I kissed him. "You're very sweet, but I can take care of this. Thanks though."
I give him a look. He raised an eyebrow giving me a funny look. "Call me if you need anything."
"I will," I said, as I popped the bottle inside Asher's mouth before going back inside my room and sitting in the rocking chair. "You're so lucky to have a guy like him as your dad, don't you know?"
Asher looks at me, squirming around as he sucks on the bottle. I tried to calm him as I watched him drink anyway. I smiled at him as he finished his bottle. I burped him and changed him, so he can sleep better and put him back in his crib. "Night, Asher," I whisper as I kissed his soft, baby face before I went back to bed.
4:00 AM
I woke up again at the crying of the baby. Again. I groaned as I repeated the same process that I had with from earlier. The good thing is, Hiccup didn't wake up again. Thankfully. I want him to sleep. Going into the baby's room, I took my son out of his crib and soothed him as I warmed up his bottle. He was a lot easier to calm down earlier, but he managed anyway.
I went back into the room. After he was done, I burped him and changed him. I put him back into his crib and gave him a good night's kiss before I went to my bed again to catch up on more sleep. I mentally sighed in my head as I thought that this was just the beginning. I only prayed that I have enough strength for all of this.
