When the group got home Jack and Jonah went to their separate rooms leaving the rest of the group to feel awkward. They had yelled at each other the entire car ride home until Lavender started crying. After that, they had just sat in awkward silence for the rest of the ride. Gabriella sighed as she fed Lavender. "I think we all need to take some time and just chill honestly," she sighed. "I'm gonna go put Lav to bed."
Corbyn nodded and ran a hand through his hair. "What's going on with Jack and Jonah?"
Zach sighed. "Who knows..." he muttered. "Let's just try and not get involved."
"Jack mad because Jonah is getting to be close with..." Daniel's voice trailed off when he heard a crash. "What the hell?"
"Jonah, what the fuck are you doing? I've told you to leave her alone and you keep trying to steal her!" Jack yelled.
"I didn't do anything. She's my friend. Just because you're dating her doesn't mean I can't be her friend. Get over yourself Jack Avery," Jonah snarled.
"Jonah if you know what's good for you, then you'll leave her alone," Jack shouted.
"Who the hell do you think you are? Gabriella can make her own decisions. You have no right to control either of us and who we're friends with," Jonah snapped.
There was an awkward silence and Gabriella stared at the floor, slightly embarrassed that the boys were fighting over her. Corbyn and Zach rolled their eyes. Daniel glanced at Gabriella and but an arm around her when he saw the sad look on her face. "It's okay," he muttered glancing awkwardly at Corbyn, who shrugged.
A yell sounded from upstairs alerting everyone who was downstairs. "Hit me again I dare you!" Jonah screamed.
"Leave my girl alone Marais!" Jack screamed.
Corbyn couldn't take it anymore. He raced upstairs followed by the rest of the group. There they found Jonah with a bloody nose punching Jack. Corbyn grabbed Jack while Daniel grabbed Jonah. Zach stood in the middle to block the boys from hitting each other. "What is wrong with you two? Get it together. Jack, just because I'm dating you doesn't mean that you can control who I'm friends with. You've been treating Jonah like shit lately and you've basically turned the band against him. Sure they treat him alright, but they ignore him. Who are you to treat any of us this way?"
"Gabriella. I'm..." Jack began, but Gabriella put a hand up.
"Save it, Jack. I don't want to hear it. Leave me alone," Gabriella snapped and took Jonah's arm. "Let's get you cleaned up."
Jack was practically trembling with rage. Zach narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything. Corbyn took a deep breath and let go of Jack. "You need to get it together. What Gabriella said was right. You need to leave them alone and let them be friends."
Zach shook his head. "Both of them are wrong to some degree don't you think?"
"Yeah. Jonah shouldn't be constantly working to make Jack mad. But Jack... just chill," Daniel muttered.
Gabriella wiped the blood off of Jonah's face. "Hey, buddy. You okay?"
"Why does Jack hate me so much all of a sudden?" Jonah stammered, getting close to tears.
Corbyn and Zach were laying on the couch scrolling through their social media when Corbyn stopped at a video he saw. "Z, have you seen Jonah's TikTok recently?"
Zach looked up from his phone. "No, but I saw Gabriella's. Is it the video that she and Jonah did?"
Corbyn nodded. "This can only go well."
"Do you think Jonah is trying to get back at Jack?" Zach asked.
Daniel walked into the room. "Jack is pissed. Did you see that video?"
"We can't really defend Jonah anymore. I mean Jack would flip," Zach stammered.
Jack stormed downstairs and glared at Jonah who was sitting in the kitchen holding Lavender. Practically shaking with rage he cleared his throat. "Jonah Marais, what did I tell you?"
"You don't control my life," Jonah muttered.
"Jonah," Zach warned.
"You guys are on his side now?" Jonah stammered.
Corbyn and Daniel stared at the floor. Jonah's eyes filled with tears. "I was just helping Gabriella. She's tired. I told her I'd take care of Lavender for now."
"Jonah, don't you get it? You're hurting Jack," Daniel sighed.
"I'm hurting Jack?" Jonah stammered. "What about what Jack does to me? I guess no one notices that huh?"
Corbyn rolled his eyes. "Why can't you just leave well enough alone?"
The next afternoon while Zach and Daniel were in the pool they heard a commotion happening in the house. Daniel rolled his eyes. "Let's not get involved."
Jack was standing in the kitchen yelling at Jonah for an Instagram photo of Jonah and Gabriella. "What the hell is wrong with you man?"
"Let me tell you something..." Jonah started to say.
"No. Let me tell you something. You need to stay out of both Gabriella's and Lavender's lives. Just leave," Jack snapped.
"I have every right to stay here. As do you. Just leave me alone," Jonah sighed.
Jack grabbed Jonah's shirt collar. "Or what?"
Jonah punched Jack in the stomach and watched as he stumbled back. Jack punched Jonah's face and watched him fall backward. Jonah's head hit the edge of the counter and he landed on the ground unconscious. Jack stood frozen in horror. Corbyn walked in and gasped. "Jonah. Jon wake up!" he gasped.
Jack stared at Jonah. "I didn't mean to. I just..."
Corbyn felt Jonah's neck. "I barely feel a pulse. Call an ambulance."
And then Jonah died.
