Eve's POV

*Splash* After waking up in the morning and eating dried meat for breakfast, I dragged all the furniture outside and used my Water Element to clean the dusty furniture. Looking through all the cabinets and shelves I finally found a usable rag, along with a old rickety bucket from the bathroom. Filling the bucket with my Water Element I used the wet rag to wipe down the windows. After thousands of years most of the things from the cottage are unusable. I discovered jars filled with black, smelly slime in them, the water pump outside doesn't work because of the over grown plants, the piles of fire wood, a broken down shed and a horse stable also turned into hills that look like the cottage. Gathering thin twigs I tied together with some rope that I had kept from the wagon wreckage, I made a small broom. Achoo! *Cough, cough, cough* I choked and sneezed on the dust that clouded the room as I swept it out. After airing out the rooms, I gathered some smaller twigs into a neat bundle and secured them together with some vine. Putting my temporary dish brush, wooden utensils and the jars from the cabinet into the tattered basket I walked down to the river to wash the contents of the jar out.

Putting the cleaned jars with the furniture in the sun, heading back into the cottage took out all the worn mental utensils and put them into a wooden box I found inside the trunk. Besides the jars the cottage was surprisingly empty and in good condition, besides the dust and the wearing away of some things there were no bugs that ate away at anything. Soon the sun started to set and after moving all the things back inside the cottage was now officially in a suitable living condition.

"Well done today! The cottage looks great!" Henry complimented on the hard work done today. The effort was with it, the cottage felt fresh and it felt a lot less stuffy.

"Took quite a lot of effort but I'm glad it's done." I reply while fidgeting with the cleaned lamp on the table. To my surprise the lamp was just a plain box with the shape of a lamp, there was nowhere to store the oil or even a fuse to light.

"What's wrong? Can't use the lamp?" Henry asked with a smirk on his face.

"Yes, its like a plain old box there's no place for the oil or even a fuse." I say as I flip the lamp around looking for some sort of indicator on how to use it.

"That's because it uses magic kid. This an item I crafted so that blank magic can be used to light it so even if you don't have fire magic or means to make a fire you can still use it. The lamp also doesn't turn off unless the user makes it turn off, also its safer to use because it doesn't actually use fire so if you drop it nothing will catch fire. Here's an introduction to Blank magic kid." Henry explained proudly.

"How does it work? How do I do blank magic? Stop calling me kid I have a name, it's Eve." I asked as I set the lamp down on the table irritated.

Henry's POV

"Do!? You can't just do magic kid, you need to learn and cast magic." This kid, don't tell me he doesn't even know the basics of magic! Who in the world says 'do' magic, I'm sure the last time I heard people say 'cast' magic and it was just a few days ago. Now that I think about it after all the magic he has done today, I don't think I ever heard him cast a spell?

"Hey kid...." I was stopped before I could continue.

" My name is Eve" He said. A girls name? I'm sure the child's a boy.

"Yeah, I know that but until I figure out if you're a boy or a girl......."  Interrupted yet again, children these days have no manners.

"I'm a boy! You getting off topic old man!" *huff* Eve pouted angrily at me. Right... the main topic.

"Okay Eve, do perhaps have the skill Wordless Incantation?" That skill is rare and difficult to master and he's still so young.....but there is no other explanation?

"No, I don't." He replied. I'm stunned as if this weird kid cannot get any wierder. If he doesn't have that skill then..........was he even using magic. The kid's eyes slowly lit up as if realizing something.

"I don't use magic. I don't even know how magic works." Eve said seriously.

"What!? Then what the heck were you doing all day today!?" I shouted. I, as someone who has created a type of magic know all about how magic works and I can't figure this kid out. If he isn't using magic than what is his source of power?

"That's another one of my secrets you can't know about." He said with a face void of emotion. A shiver went through me, if I knew the secret was that big and that he had so many...I would've rethought my decision to not question him.

"How do you light the lamp?" Eve had asked again.

"Well boy..." Eve interrupts me again.

"Eve." He said pouting. Cute, but I won't fall for that.

"As good as it's gonna get is 'boy'. Now you wanna learn or not?" I say casually.

"Fine...." Eve agrees as I continued.

"Well starting with how to use magic, you need to have a clear and accurate imagery on what you want the spell to look like. You have to cast a spell because the spell takes a physical form. Even with the skill Wordless Incantation the caster has to say the spell in their head. Now to light this lamp you need to use the spell 'light up lamp become illuminated and guide me through the dark'. Although the spell is one of the shortest spells there is and seems easy but if your imagery is not clear and accurate the spell will fail. Now give it a try and if it doesn't......." I explained.

" 'light up lamp become illuminated and guide me through the dark ' Whoa! I did it! I casted my first magic spell!" Eve casted and to my surprise he got it on first try. The boy has talent, getting it on first try. It usually takes about one hundred or more tries for a person who just started in magic and the boy didn't even know he had to cast magic a few minutes ago.

Eve's POV

I casted a spell and it worked! I learnt magic! Though it was simple, the feeling of accomplishing something successfully in something I didn't know about was exciting. As if sensing my excitement Alpha, Beta and Delta all stood up on their hind legs to see onto the table. Not being able to contain my excitement I bounced off the chair and gave Alpha a big hug, Beta And Delta joined in too yipping happily.

After giving Alpha, Beta and Delta the last portion of their stored meat I also ate the last little bit of food left I had stored in Dimension Space. Turning off the lamp and climbing into the cleaned bed I pulled the washed sheets over my body, I fell asleep with the satisfied feeling of accomplishment and the excitement of learning magic.

Third person's POV

The moonlight crept into the room through the windows and poured gently onto the floor. On the overcrowded bed in the corner of the room was a child fast asleep with a dreamy smile on his face, the wolves surrounded the child's small frame giving him the warmth he needed and at the table sat the ghost of a old man who looked at the unusual sight with hope in his eyes and adoration in his heart. Although it is not said aloud they knew in their hearts they were becoming a family and with the darkening night the small and unusual family rested for the day.
