There's a point in a child- parent relationship when the role of caretaker swaps, it can happen anytime but it is rare for it to happen when the child is under twenty. Lyndsey finally came to this realization when she had been called early in the morning to come in to discuss her mother's well being.

These meetings were pretty usual but from the tone of the nurses voice she knew this was different. Her hands shook and sweat as she walked the facility, hoping for the best but ready for the worst news.

"Hello Ms.Rivers." The main doctor Margaret sweetly addressed her, she was one of the sweetest lady's. Dr. Margaret would let Lynn know every little thing she found out about her mother.

They slowly entered room 121, and a smile came across Lyndsey's face as she saw her mom. "Please sit Lynn."

She listened to the doctors and wrapped her hand around Cassandra's knowing she would need the support. "How is she?" Lynn asked the doctor softly.

"Sweetheart it's getting worse." The doctor sighed, they had always looked at Lynn with pity and she hated it more than anything. It made her feel weak but she knew it was out of kindness. "What do you mean?"

"The coma state is permanent and her condition is speeding up, she doesn't have long Lyndsey."

"You called?" Lyndsey strutted into the Salvatore house, despite the hard long morning she sucked up all her sadness to go and see her favorite cousin

Caroline's head snapped to look at her the moment her voice rang through the large foyer "Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't come home last night," she apologized, feeling guilty for leaving her alone.

"All good Care Bear, it's been a rough couple of weeks." Lynn went to sit by her cousin's side as they spoke, "How was your mom? Any news?" Caroline asked, she was always concerned when Lyndsey had to go in to see her aunt.

Caroline was one of the only people who knew that Lyndsey often hid her deep pain, by acting sassy or happy. But on the inside, she was really breaking down, especially after the doctor's visits with her mom.

"She's the same as always, she's slowly dying and will never come out of the coma." She sighed while giving her cousin the update.

Lyndsey barely told anyone about her mom, it hurt her too much to speak on it. So everyone assumes that Cassandra Rivers is just dead but sometimes it was easier that way.

Caroline embraced her trying to provide some sort of comfort before dropping the bomb, "I'm sorry bean." She whispered,

"Anyways... what did you need me for?" Lyndsey asked, It wasn't often that she called demanding for Lynn to come to the Salvatore mansion ASAP.
