☾ [GOODBYE MOM] Heartbreak, something that hits you harder than any emotion. It's a time where all you want to do is cry when you blame yourself for what has happened, where the only thing you eat is a form of comfort food.
It doesn't necessarily always have to be because you broke up with your significant other, it can happen because of a loss of a friendship, a loss of a family member. It all comes down to feeling as if your heart has snapped in half.
Lyndsey had slowly been breaking for a while, piece by piece, when her father died, when her mother went into a coma when Will left her but this was the moment she had been dreading for the last year.
Life had been hectic for weeks now, but after the last couple of days, they had all fallen into a deep depression. Alaric had spent hours and hours drowning his sorrows in alcohol, Elena and Jeremy were grieving, she had found out Damon had been bitten by a werewolf and they didn't have an idea on what to do.
Lyndsey on the other hand had gotten a phone call that made her fall into the same state as them.
She was in the living room of the Salvatore mansion when her cell phone began to ring, she answered it slowly standing and everyone who sat in the room had their eyes on her. "Hello." She greeted into her phone.
"Is this Ms.Rivers?" the voice from the other side asked.
"Yeah this is Lyndsey." she stuttered, never enjoying when a sentence started with this.
The woman sighed, "Lyndsey I'm your mother's nurse for the day. I think it's time to say goodbye darling."
She froze, the world stopped. Lynn's breathing swallowed out, it hurt, it hurt so much. Her phone slipped out of her palm and it collided with the floor, tears silently streamed down her face as she crumpled onto her knees.
Caroline quickly jumped off the couch grabbing Lyndsey's phone to her ear, watching as her cousin broke down. "Oh, Lynds."
☾
There she sat in a room, focused on listening to her mother's last breath while wrapped in the protective arms of her cousin. Lyndsey felt so incredibly heartbroken but at the same time , to her sometimes it felt like her mom was already gone.
Cassandra had put up such an amazing fight to stay alive for her kids, they both understood that she was struggling and in pain and it was their turn to give her something in return.
Lyndsey's mother was such an inspiration to the tiny girl, she wished she was half as gorgeous as her mom. She was her rock, the woman who held her while she cried, rocked her to sleep, who stayed up with her all those restless nights.
