I've decided to do another song chapter. Last time I did 'Never Be Alone' but this time I am doing my favourite song of all time Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations. If you have a song request by all means please send in the song and/or the ship. If you haven't listened to the song listen to it before you read this chapter. It's important you know the song before you read this chapter. I also did Moxiety a while ago but I love Moxiety and Buttercup is a song Patton would like in my opinion. This is going to be a semi sad chapter and IDK how because buttercup is such a happy song but I will try to add fluff and happiness at the end

Patton was waiting outside of a coffee shop for his boyfriend Virgil to show up. He looked at his watch and saw it was 9:50 am sharp. He sighed.

"He's 10 minutes late," Patton sighed. Maybe he and Virgil weren't meant to be together. He was getting ready to leave when a person head to toe in black clothing walked through the door. Virgil walked over to Patton and sat in the seat across from him.

"I'm sorry..."
"10 minutes Virge?"
"Yeah... I needed to get off work"
"I understand but no text or anything?"
"I was driving!"

Patton sighed and forced a smile.

"Well at least you're here now"
"I don't really want anything"
"Well I waited here for 20 minutes and now you don't want anything?"
"Patton... I'm sorry I truly am"

Patton stands up and grabs Virgil's hand. He pulls Virgil out of the coffee shop and he makes his way to a nearby field.

"Patton I said I was sorry!"
"Sorry doesn't cut it, Virgil. I'm going to sing you a little song alright?"
"Y-You are?"
"Well yeah"

They got to the field and Patton let go of Virgil's hand.

"Patton I know you said sorry won't cut it-"
"Why do you build me up buttercup, baby Just to let me down and mess me around? And then worst of all you never call, baby When you say you will but I love you still. I need you more than anyone, darlin' You know that I have from the start. So build me up buttercup, don't break my heart"

Virgil's heart sank. It was their song

Four years ago...
Patton was downtown. He was watching a marching band perform for the Santa Claus Parade. He stepped onto the curb and accidentally bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry!"
"It's fine"

He looked up and saw Virgil. He took a deep breath and put his hand out.

"My name is Patton what is yours?"
"That's a nice name. My name is Virgil"
"Ooh I like that name"

They heard the start of Build Me Up Buttercup. Both Patton and Virgil gasped at the same time.

"You know this song, Patton?"
"Yeppers! Do you know it, Virgil?"
"You bet I do! It's a classic"

Patton looked at his watch and saw the time

10 o'clock sharp...

Flashback end...
"I'll be over at ten, " you told me time and again But you're late, I wait around and then
I went to the door, I can't take any more
It's not you, you let me down again. Baby, baby, try to find a little time and I'll make you mine. I'll be home I'll be beside the phone waiting for you. Ooh ooh ooh, ooh ooh ooh"

Virgil started to tear up. Sure even though it was their song it shouldn't have this much emotion behind it right? Wrong. So wrong.

Three years ago...
Virgil walked up to Patton's door. In one hand he held a bouquet of blue and purple flowers. He used his free hand to knock on the door. When the door opened Patton appeared with red puffy eyes.
