the truth sometimes hurt

I opened my eyes slowly when I felt like something was weighing on my eyelids made it hard for me to open it completely.

Kicking the blanket that covered my body the whole night before lifting my body, sitting with my both elbows on both knees.

I run my fingers through my hair, uncomfortably untied my hair. I usually sleep with hair down but since I went home a bit drunk last night and felt so tired to do anything after the short shower, I decided to let it be.

Glanced at the clock on the wall, 0930.

"Adrian...", I whispered to myself.

As I remembered his invitation, I rushed to the bathroom to shower. Put on my casual weekend clothes and
decided to go with the basic makeup; lipgloss, mascara and blusher only.

Satisfied with my look, I went downstairs and found Aunt Miani the living room. She was arranging the beautiful glass decorations beside the television before she saw and greeted me.

"Morning, Aunt Miani. Is Lia getting better?", I asked, concern.

Aunt Miani was our neighbor's nanny and she will be at our home every Saturday to do the total cleaning of the house. But her daughter was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago, so she couldn't come for two weekend.

"She is getting better, and nothing can make me happier than that", she said cheerfully and her eyes sparked with happiness.

"It's good to hear that", I said excitedly, walking toward the key drawer and took out the car key.

Aunt Miani grinned ear to ear before continued with her cleaning.

"Well, aunty. Have my mom told you anything?".

She nodded slowly. "About that thing, I really can't stop working here", sorrow glowed in her eyes.

"But aunty you have to be with Lia for the time being. She needs you".

"But-but-", she stammered. "Aunt need money now. You know Isha, Lia just survived the cancer and we don't know what's coming next, I'm afriad if more money is needed soon", she said, her eyes shimmered with tears.

I felt a pang of sympathy for Aunt Miani.

"Mom will still pay you like usual although you don't come working for the next few weeks and I'm sure mom already informed you about that, right?", I asked.

She lowered her head, starting at the floor.

"Yes. But I can't do that. Your family have done too much for me. And I don't want to become a burden to you guys anymore".

"Aunt, you are not...", I tried to convince her when suddenly she cut me off.

"Looks like you are going somewhere. You should go now, I'm afraid I have to leave you because I have more things to do outside", she grinned, politely stepping to dining room.

"Aunt-"

I sighed as she waved at me and shouted 'Take care Isha'.

I shrugged thinking about giving up then slowly walked outside and climbed into the car.

I entered Ezekiel Cafe, eyes searching for Adrian.

The cafe was flooded with people and awash with colourful big board of menu hanging on every corner of the cafe.

"Good morning, Isha", Ezekiel, the owner greeted me entering from the main door followed by his wife, Zita who was once my childhood best friend .

I extended my hand to shake Zita's hand, but she pulled me into a brief hug instead. Vanilla perfume waffs off her, and her hair tickled my nose.
