THE OPPOSITE (Are we?)

Chapter 9

During breakfast Jessica noticed Jess was typing on his phone and wondered what he was smiling at and why. Even in school as he is chatting at lunch, Jessica shrugged and turned to busy Kristin who was doing her assignment with her phone.
" so Kristin, what do you say about having a sleepover at my place? "

Kristin was so into her work, not giving Jessica any response "KRISTIN! "

Jessica and everyone at their table turned to Kristin
" huh? " she flushed looking at Jessica

" sleepover please "

Everyone were looking at her waiting for her reply, Kristin frowned " okay,  but I can't promise you anything, what about on Friday?

Jessica grinned hugging Kristin " fine by me, thanks "

It was Friday at last and end of school, Kristin pack her things from her last class and joined Jessica in the hallway and they both walked to the school parking lot where Jess was already waiting for them.
  He glared at Kristin, she looked away.

" be nice Jess, she is my guest" Jessica whispered to Jess in annoyance.

" yes ma'am" he bowed to Jessica before getting into the driver seat while the girls took the back seat.

He looked back at his sister smiling face then to Kristin, she was also smiling, she has a wonderful smile when she smiles genuinely.  He drove them home and disappeared after.

  Kristin was amazed at the house, it was clean and beautiful, and homey, Jessica led the way to her room. She fall on her bed
" my mom should be home soon " Jessica said

Kristin place her things on the small sofa in the room and went to check out Jessica's book collections.

Jessica went downstairs and saw her mother in the sitting room " hey mom you are back "

" how are you doing?  How was school? " Amanda asked her daughter as she sat down.

" fine "

" where is Jess? "

" don't know " she shrugged " so mom, my friend is around " Jessica told her mom

Amanda turned to Jessica " really?  Where is... " her phone ranged,  and she signaled for Jessica to bring it out from her handbag.

Jessica got the phone and gave it to her mother. " hello" Amanda got up from her seat " oh, o.. Okay, I will be right there "

Jessica frowned when her mother finished answering the call " Mom? "

" sorry dear, I have to leave " she got her bag

" what about my friend? "

" send my greetings to her "

" but mom! "

Amanda kissed her on her forehead " love you, don't wait for me, food is preserved for you guys, take care"

" but mo... "

" I gotta go dear, love you " she left the house. Jessica watched sadly as her mom left the house.

Just then Kristin came downstairs " Jessica?"

" hey!  You missed my mom, she had to attend to an emergency " Jessica said and Kristin nodded. " so I think we are home alone" she sad with a sad smile.

" what can we do? " Kristin asked

" baking? " suggested Jessica

" perfect ".
The girls went to the kitchen and started baking.

Jess was frustrated when his online friend didn't reply to his texts, he walked out of his room and went to the kitchen, he saw his sister and Kristin all covered in flour, he shook his head at them.
Kristin turned around laughing, she stopped when she saw Jess, He walked in and went straight to the well dressed cupcake taking one, he ate out of it, he nodded in approval and left, while the girls high-five each other
