THE OPPOSITE (Are we?)

Chapter 18

At home, Kristin was  in her room after she finished reading a book Troy got for her she decided to join Jessica in the sitting room. Her cellphone rang and she picked it without a second thought.
" hello? "

" wow, you picked my call " his surprised voice said

" em... Hello? "

" how are you? "

" fine"

" you didn't reply my messages " he said

" sorry " Kristin entered the sitting room and sat opposite Jessica who was watching a movie.

" are you sure you are okay? " he asked

" yes am fine " Kristin replied
Jessica looked at Kristin interested., she glanced at Jess too who was in the room, standing at the back of the chair facing the baconly.

" where are you? " Jess asked.

Kristin caught that, she looked at Jessica then to Jess.

" hello? " he asked turning around when his friend did not answer.

" Jess? "

" how did you... " Jess trailed off looking at Kristin as her phone fell from her, he heard the sound as he stared at Kristin in shock.

" you... Are... " Kristin shook her head to clear it.

" oh! " Jessica grinned " what's going on? "

Kristin was red as a tomato, she picked her phone as a message flashed on her screen.

" ' you are Kristin? ' " the message reads and Kristin looked at Jess who shook his head.

Kristin got up and walked out after a staring competition with a long pin drop silence.

Jess sat down and Jessica joined him rubbing his back. " care to tell me what is going on? " she asked gently..

Jess explained everything to her. " wow " Jessica breathed out " so what are you going to do? "

Jess laughed bitterly, " nothing,  I don't like Kristin you know "

Jessica slapped his back " that's rude Jess "

" I don't care "

" do you have feelings for you know who? " Jessica asked not using Kristin name since Jess could snap at anytime.

" its foolish and ridiculous, but yes " he stood up " am out of  here ".

Jessica grinned,  she got things to attend to.

Jessica went to Kristin's room, she didn't even noticed Jessica walking in, she was staring at something on her phone and tears rolled down face.
" Kris? " Jessica asked touching her shoulder making Kristin to jerk in surprise, when she saw it was Jessica and no harm was coming her way, she relaxed and smiled.

" are you alright? " Jessica asked in concern

" am okay"

Jessica sat beside Kristin on her bed " so you and Jess huh? "

Kristin blushed " I... I never knew he was the one"

" he told me how he met his online friend , I think he likes her "

Kristin laughed " well, that's great, he likes her not me, now that am her he hates our gut "
" I wouldn't jump to conclusion if I were you "

" thanks for being here Jessica, but I want to be alone ".

Jessica looked sad but respected Kristin's privacy, she left the room.

After dinner which Kristin didn't came down for, Amanda gave her children a questioning look which they avoid, her husband could not make it for dinner.
   She went to Kristin's room and found her crying as silent as she could, shook and feeling guilty for not being there for Kristin she sat beside her and rub Kristin back in comfort.
" cry all you can, let it all out " she told Kristin, another heartbreaking sob came out from Kristin. Amanda let her for sometime.  " come here baby "
she hugged Kristin, her head rested on her head

" you can talk to me, you know am here for you now? "

" tha... ank you " her voice broke
" how are you feeling now "

" good "

" and do you sleep well? "

Kristin nodded surprisingly she did not have any trauma or nightmare.
" are you hungry?  I'll tell Jessica to bring you something to eat "

" no,  am okay " Kristin sat upright and cleaned het face " thanks for being here "

" am glad you are okay "

During breakfast and lunch at school, Kristin avoided Jess looking for route to escape and Jessica was getting frustrated.
  Kristin was about to leave their table during lunch when Jess, Rand a Quinn showed up.
" will you guys stop already? " Jessica snapped

Kristin lost her balance but Quinn caught her and steadied her" thanks "

" no p " Quinn said

He was warming up to her and she couldn't be more happy.
" what's going on " Rand asked digging into Kristin's untouched food.
When there was no answer, Rand looked up and all six of them shared a look.
