Operation: thieving Thunder

The battle that changed everything

Kye's POV
I asked "when is the ship date?" He sighed "4 days" I asked "how long is it?" He replied "6 almost 7 months" I looked at him before asking "Will I be able to keep in contact with everyone here during my time there?" He nodded "I can pull some strings so we can go and visit you once a week" I looked down and to my left "Can I have some time to think about it?" Harry nodded happily "try to have an answer for me by tomorrow, alright?" I watch as Amelia dragged Zofia over "Mom you HAVE to give it a try, it's so fun!" I saw Eliza and Ela giggling behind their hands as Zofia sighed "Alright, alright" I watched Amelia skip to Ela happily before I scooted forward on the seat and felt Zofia slide in behind me before she asked "How should I hold?" I responded "tightly, just don't lose grip of me" she responded by gripping the sides of my shirt tightly as I kicked the quad to drive and let it drive slowly onto the track she seemed to tense as I sped up and started pushing the limits on the tires grip. We entered a turn and halfway through the rear wheels hit a spot of loose dirt and slide around as the quad fish tailed, i counteracted by turning the wheel to the right in the direction the back kicked out, I faintly heard a uncharacteristic squeal from behind me as Zofia's arms formed a python like cage around me, tightening with each second that the quad slid. An excruciating 3 seconds later the drift was complete and her grip started to release as it was just a straight path until we reached the triple, three small hills that cause the vehicle to jump, her constrictor like hold only tightened leaving one thought in my head How is she this strong?! We made the final turn and I stopped the quad as I felt Zofia's grip release and air finally reached my lungs, I took in deep breaths before wheezing "Zo how are you that strong?" Amelia spoke happily "Because mommy's a superhero! Oh shoot, I wasn't supposed to tell you that" I laughed at the comment as Ela crouched "Why don't we go paint?" Amelia looked at Zofia "Can I?" Zofia nodded with a smile as Ela picked up Amelia and started walking away, I took off my helmet as I heard Amelia scream "No one tell anyone that mommy's a superhero!" I gave a short salute as Eliza yelled back "You got it!"
       I waited for Zofia to get off the quad before I brought it back to the shed. After we packed everything up I walked back and met up with Eliza and Zofia "So what're you two gonna do?" Eliza spoke "I need some help with my lightsaber, I figured you'd be able to help me" I gave a thumbs up as Zofia replied "I'm gonna go and train" I suggested "why don't I go and get Julien then after I help fix Eliza's saber we can practice that since the battle is tonight?" Zofia got wide eyed "it's tonight? I thought it was tomorrow" I shook my head no as Eliza realized "oh god, I haven't practiced at all" I laughed as a mental image entered my mind "what do you think the masks would think if we got called for a brief in the middle of the battle and were all in Jedi and sith robes?" Zofia shook her head in amusement "probably oh shit rainbows here... wait what the fuck? Why do they look like Jedi? Who the fuck sent the Comic-Con versions of rainbow" I chuckled as Eliza started walking "come on the sooner we fix my saber the sooner I can start practicing" I rolled my eyes but followed her while texting Julien "hey bro, meet us at the gym. We're doing some practice for the fight tonight" he quickly replied "don't you have the kid? How's that gonna work?" I texted back "she's with Ela right now, we've got maybe an hour to practice"
        I looked at Zofia "I guess it's a good thing we had the mission today. We aren't on rotation for another mission for a while" Zofia nodded "its nice that we have pre determined teams now, we used to call everyone one at a time for missions so some people would be doing 3 missions a day and others wouldn't have any for a week. Now everyone get a mission every week and time to rest" I replied "definitely nicer than the Rangers, we'd do missions constantly. Every night there's some house to hit, someone to grab, every single night" Eliza spoke "it was odd at SWAT hq, some months we'd have calls constantly and then others it's just training" I rotated my shoulder as I sighed "Training with Zofia is always like getting thrown off a cliff repeatedly but everytime the cliff is slightly higher" Zofia shot back "well everytime you hit the ground you bounce a bit better" I rolled my eyes as Eliza asked "Why do you train with zofia? I mean you were good enough to get invited to rainbow" I heard Zofia causing me to slump "because he's absolutely abysmal in hand to hand, like complete garbage" Eliza glanced back "but he's really good with his lightsabers, how can he be good with swords and daggers but not hand to hand?" I shrugged "I'm just more comfortable with the swords, there's something about the swords that Im better with" I heard Eliza ask "why don't you get a short sword so you can be good in cqb?" Zofia replied "I don't think that's allowed" I nodded "me either" Eliza shrugged "worth a thought" I nodded as we walked into Zofia and I's dorm, Zofia and I spread out and grabbed our sabers before I grabbed a bottle of water and followed them out into the hallway as we made our way to Liza's room so she could grab her saber. We continued on with the list of things we needed to grab before arriving at the gym, I tried not to laugh when I walked in after Zofia and Eliza and saw Julien sitting on his knees looking like he was trying to meditate, i wordlessly walked over to the bench and sat down before motioning Liza to hand me her lightsaber.
        When it was in my hand I spoke in my sith voice "A Jedi's weapon, an inelegant thing. Disgraceful" she sat down next to me "Oh for fucks sake" I heard Julien "Darth, I see you're still dishonorable" I kept working on Eliza's saber as I replied "Honor is a fool's prize. Glory is of no use to the dead" he sighed "You were a fool to come here, I will defeat you this time" I rolled my eyes "quite the idealist aren't you master Jedi, but first you'll have to get through my assassin" I lit Eliza's saber and asked "Is this how it normally looks?" She nodded pleased "thank you, really, it means a lot" I waved her off as I stood and pulled up my two sabers flicking them on and spinning them to a reverse grip. Eliza lit hers "I will defeat you" I cackled "Well Jedi, you're starting to sound like a sith" I was about to charge when I heard my phone ding "wait hold on, I got a text" Eliza sighed but relaxed while I checked my phone and saw a text from Ela "Hey where are you guys? we're at your dorm, Amelia got bored with painting and wanted to hang out with you" I replied "We're in the gym practicing for the game, why don't you grab Dominic and come join us?" She texted back "Alright see you in a bit" I placed my phone back into my pocket and nodded to Eliza "Let's go" she nodded and charged, I smiled as I swung my short saber and felt the collision of the blades as Eliza's saber recoiled back in response to my shoving it away and up before I spun to my left and dragged the blade of my second saber across her leg.
        She fell back onto her ass before rolling back into a crouch just then Zofia appeared next to me as Julien stood next to Eliza breathing heavily "Jeez, you guys are good. Too bad the sith are doomed to fall" I smiled "So you would think but from what I've seen, we're going to dominate" Zofia asked "Enough talk, let's go shall we?" I nodded as Julien spoke "I suppose we should, my old friends" suddenly Eliza yelled "Switch" as Julien rushed me, I was caught off guard for a second before I started defending, Julien did several quick attacks while spinning forcing me to backpedal viciously while spinning to dodge or swatting his attacks away. I growled in anger as I got tired of being pushed around before I spun and threw a backwards strike forcing Julien to give up his attack and instead use his saber to block as I started pushing forward throwing strikes from both of my sabers, I subconsciously heard the door open and a "shhh, watch" as I pushed Julien back, suddenly Julien managed to deflect one of my attacks forcing me to spin so my back was towards him and my short saber was blocking his strike. I heard Zofia theatrically groan as I saw something drop in my peripheral I glanced to my right as I heard footsteps getting louder causing me to use my regular saber to block as I stood there holding both Eliza and Julien at bay laughing before I shoved up and broke the stalemate.
        I spun and tagged Eliza's chest with both of my sabers marking her as dead only to spin and try to hit Julien only to find my neck at the tip of his blade. He breathed heavily as did I before he spoke "I will destroy the sith" I spoke in a harsh tone before smiling "Strike me down in anger and you will become I" as I yanked up my sabers and made an X as we killed each other, I fell back as the exhaustion set in my arms splayed out as I felt my chest heave with each labored breath until I felt a shadow on my face, I opened my eyes and saw Amelia leaning over me "Hello!" I chuckled "Hi Little one, how was painting?" She spoke happily "it was fun but I wanted to see what you and mommy were doing, you guys are so cool!" I sat up and messed up her hair "Thanks kid" she looked me in the eyes and with an unflinching confidence she said "I'm not a kid, I'm a big girl" I laughed as Zofia called from the bench "Come here baby, Eliza wants to talk to you!" Amelia looked at me before turning and skipping off to Zofia as I stood and extended my hand to Julien I yanked him up as he laughed "Christ, good fight, I wasn't expecting the suicide play" I replied with a confident smirk "I wasn't expecting to have to fight two people at once, it was fun" we walked to the bench and I sat next to Zofia "How'd your fight go?"
        She sighed before replying "I got hit because she pulled a weird maneuver, sorry about leaving you in a 2v1. I'm not that good at this" I chuckled as I bumped my shoulder into hers "listen you're new to the sport, I've been doing it for ages and Julien's been doing it with me since I joined. It's okay to be a bit weaker when you first start sword fighting, keep your head up, your kid thinks we're awesome" she chuckled before responding "thanks, I needed that, I'm not used to being this bad at something." I waved her off "Do not fear my apprentice, you'll be kicking my booty in no time" she laughed as I heard some giggles from further down the bench and saw Julien and Eliza glancing at Zofia and I before whispering to each other as Ela and Amelia were playing tic tac toe, I smiled to myself at the scene before nudging Zofia's elbow and then motioning to the scene. Zofia took a picture secretly before Ela glanced over and whispered to Amelia before Amelia gasped lightly and her eyes widened before she ran over "Hey mommy" Zofia replied chuckling slightly "what baby? What is it?" Amelia glanced at me before shyly asking "Can we take a picture with Kye? Aunt Elzbieta said it'd be fun to start making a..... a.... Aunt Elzbieta, what was that thing called again?!" Ela replied laughing "A collage!" Amelia nodded "A collage of all the fun stuff I do with your friends here" Zofia looked at me before asking "So why do I need to be in the picture?" Amelia replied like it was obvious "because we do everything together, and Aunt Elzbieta said you and Kye are best friends" I glanced at Ela to which she gave me a kind smile with a nod before joining the conversation with Eliza only causing more confusion what the hell are they talking about?
         I spoke "Come on Zo, you act like it's the end of the world to take a picture with Amelia and I. It'll be fun to look back on when she's older" Amelia nodded  happily "See? Kye agrees with me" Zofia nodded with a sigh of defeat "Alright, we'll take the picture." I chuckled at how dialed in Amelia has her mom while Amelia turned and called out "Auntie! Mom said tak(yes)" I choked at the similarities between Zofia and Amelia's habits before Zofia stood and extended her hand "come on, let's take this picture or your little friend is gonna take my ear off" I laughed as I took her hand and she pulled me up "Just remember," my voice dropped to a haunted whisper "She's sleeping in your bed" Zofia's eyes snapped wide with fear "oh no" I chuckled "Don't worry I've got a plan, how's her tolerance of sugar?" Zofia shook her head no as Ela called "Hey, come on, let's go. Move it" I sighed "I'll get her to sleep" as Zofia and I walked over to where Ela and the rest were standing "Alright Major Ela, where do you want us?" Ela shifted her weight onto her right foot "Hmm, I'm thinking there" Julien nodded "you could have them stand on the stage at like 3, 5 and 7 meters in a sort of triangle so it looks like the you have to go through Kye and Zofia to get to Amelia"
       While they tried figuring out what they wanted I crouched and double checked the eagle feather in her hair as Zofia stood to my left behind Amelia, I glanced up "How's it look?" She nodded with a proud smile "Like she was born to wear it" Amelia lit up at the comment as I heard a camera go off and saw Ela staring at her camera "o mój Boże(oh my god), it's perfect" I looked at Amelia as she turned to me and I asked "what'd she say?" Amelia giggled before answering "oh my god, it's perfect" I sarcastically responded "well I got the English part smart Alec" she laughed as Ela handed the camera to Zofia before Zofia silently gasped "wow, Elzbieta I didn't know you were this good at photography" I was getting impatient as was Amelia causing me to ask "hey let us see, we wanna know what the big fuss is about" Eliza responded "just an adorable picture" I poked Amelia "hear that? We're adorable" she giggled as Zofia gave me the camera and Julien commented "You're acting like a dad an awful lot Kye" I looked up "I'm good with kids, what can I say?" As I looked at the picture and saw the perfect timing of it, I was mid smirk while Amelia wore a brilliant smile and Zofia watched the scene with her pride clearly exposed for the world to see. Zofia asked Ela "When do you think I can get a physical copy, I wanna get it framed. I love that picture, you're an amazing photographer" Ela seemed shocked at the praise before she covered it up with her smug confidence "of course I am, I'm a bosak" Julien, Eliza and I all formed a line before placing our left hand over our hearts and leaning back Julien spoke "Um excuse you" Zofia shook her head at the idiocy of the situation while Amelia laughed openly at the theatrics.
