🖤   10

*** Nompumelelo ***

We drove passed KFC to get some dinner before we go home because I am not in the mood for cooking today. I keep thinking about what my father in law said. I don't even hear my son when he calls me till he snaps his fingers at me. He can be a drama king sometimes.

"Yye, what's wrong" I ask him.

"Whose car is that.” He says pointing to Mmelokuhle's car...what does he want now.

"Hey, what are you doing here" I ask him as soon as we get out of the car and he helps me with Lwandle's bags.

"Hi, you left me hanging this morning and I need an answer from you.” Is he mad. Couldn't he call me for this. He greets my son and we all walk in.

"Why didn't you call me though"

"We can't discuss this over a phone call "

"Mma I'm hungry, can we eat please" I dish up for the three of us and we eat. Okay this is weird.

"How's school Lwandlelwethu.”  He asks him.

"School was okay, I have a soccer game tomorrow. We are playing with another sschool" He says and looks at me.

I need to send money home, I know they all coming to watch his game tomorrow. I take my phone and transfer it to my dad. Lwandle is still looking at me.

"What's wrong boy"

"I don't know what to call him.” He says pointing at Mmeli.

"You can call me uncle Mmeli.”

"Will you come to my game tomorrow. Mom can he come.” Absolutely Not!

"Uncle Mmeli is a very busy man Lwandlelwethu.” I answer for the both of us and he smirks.

“I would love to, what time does it start.” Bastard!

"What time does it starts Mma"

Maybe I should tell him a wrong time and he won't come. I told my mom about him looking like my son… now imagine my family meeting him.

"At 10 boy" I say.

"It starts at 10, then we all go out for some Ice cream, can I be excuse I need to wash my hands" I nod my head at him. Shit! I totally forgot it's my turn to make food for them.

"Why do I feel like you deliberately gave me the wrong time" I roll my eyes, I have been doing a lot of eye rolling since I met him.

"Mmelokuhle ufunani vele" I ask as I stand and walk to the kitchen and he follows me.

What am I going to make for these kids. hotdogs I will do that. I need rolls. And I order them for tomorrow morning.

"Nompumelelo you can't ignore me forever you know.”

"Mmelokuhle I'm busy, you need to get going… go to your girlfriend or something"

I'm getting annoyed, the sex was good, very good but it's not happening again. Shit the pills.

“We broke up”

I look at him and he is helping me wash the dishes. Where is my son, can't take that long to wash hands and this man is crowding me.

"Lwandlelwethu, come down and help us please!" I call out to him.. and he comes down wearing his PJ's.

"He does look like me" He whispers that to himself. I sigh.

"We can get the DNA test done you know. I swear to you he isn't yours" I say softly to him.

"It's okay, I should go" I nod.

"Am I invited tomorrow mara, I know you gave me the wrong time" shit.. he shakes his head and laughs.

A kiss on my cheeks and he fist pump Lwandle and leaves.

*** Mmelokuhle**

I arrive at home and fix myself a drink and I send a text to Nompumelelo.

*please send me all the details for Lwandle's game, correct details* and she texts back.

*lol, go to sleep goodnight

Damn this woman!. I call my mother and she picks up on the first ring.

"Mrs Mngomezulu what is this I hear that you hire women now to seduce your son."

"I'm your mother wena, show me some respect" I chuckle.

"Kodwa Thandi you can't do that, ngimdala manje" she sighs.

"I know that Mmelokuhle, Kodwa this is right for you, your father will reconsider his decision if you can prove to him that you are now a responsible young man"

"Ma" I take a deep breathe.

"Aai Mmelokuhle, Nompumelelo is a lovely girl she will definitely make a good wife, trust me" She tells me.

"I know she is, but Ma let me do me please, don't interfere in my love life and if your husband wants me to get married first in order for him to see that I've changed my ways, then I'm sorry he can keep his company and disown me twice"

"Mmelokuhle don't talk rubbish please good night" She hangs up and I throw my phone on the wall. Shit!

****

I am early because I don't see them anywhere and my phone is broken I can't even call her. I see one of the ladies coming to me, smiling from ear to ear. She greets me with a handshake.

"Hello I'm Cynthia one of the teachers, which team are you"

"Hi, Mmeli, I'm here for Lwandlelwethu's team" She looks at me from head to toe, that's weird.

"I thought Lwandle's father passed on, you look just like him" I want to reply her but I don't I just smile at her.

"Sorry this way please" I follow her. And I hear Lwandle calling me and I turn, he is running to me.

"Uncle Mmeli, Uncle Mmeli" The smile on my face right now. He runs to me and I catch him.

"Lwandlelwethu slow down please or else you will fall and miss your gname.” She says to him, walking to us.

God she is breath-taking, she is wearing Jean's and a white t-shirt with Lwandle's picture on it, they all wearing like that, now I feel left out with black Jean's and a black shirt.

"Mmelokuhle unjani, meet my family" She says to me. She looks irritated I'm getting the feeling that she didn't think I would come since she gave me the incorrect details, but I have my ways to get information. She introduces me to everyone and I greet her father first then her mom and the sisters, who are giving me funny looks.

We go to our place and watch him play. They all cheering for him, laughing and singing. This right here is what I want for myself one day. I never thought that me Mmelokuhle Mngomezulu would be sitting here and watching 6 year olds playing soccer and actually enjoying myself.

Now and again I keep checking her out and I think she is ignoring me.
