[ OVERWHELMING ]

"You alright?" Sayah questioned Luna as she watched the girl stare down at her arm where Abby had previously extracted blood. "If you don't want to do anymore tests, you don't have to, Luna, I'll make sure of it."
"No," Luna sighed, eyes drifting away from her arm to Sayah's eyes. "No, it's okay. Have you and John spoken yet?"
Sayah let out a small laugh. "I don't even know if we will."
"Seems like now is the best time." Luna hummed, getting up from where she sat and approaching Sayah. "Might not even get another chance." Luna's eyes were serious and Sayah couldn't help but stare—she would never get over how beautiful the girl was. Even as a young girl, and even now. . . Sayah couldn't help but admire her immensely; she always had. She never thought about it much—perhaps there was nothing to think about. Maybe it was all in her head. They were young then, Luna was different from how she was now, and Sayah. . . Sayah just knew how to observe things; she was young and when you're young, attention was important. It was more than just using in battle, it was more than any of what she was taught.
"How optimistic." Sayah teased, a small smile forming on her face. She watched as Luna tapped her finger on her side. Once, twice. She met Luna's eyes once more. "He's with Emori." Sayah frowned, hand dropping into her pocket for the shell. Her fingers found the familiar object immediately, fiddling with it, going over every curve, every dip.
"Then get him alone." Luna simply said, noticing the look on Sayah's face. "He'll leave to talk to you if you just ask, I'm sure."
"You seem to know him very well," Sayah drawled, amusement clear in her voice.
"Maybe him and I have more in common than you think." Luna replied cryptically. Sayah furrowed her brows, wondering what she could possibly mean by that, but Luna only sent her a small smile. "Go, now." She urged. "I need a nap."
"You need me, you let me know." Sayah reminded her sternly. "I'm serious, Lu."
"Yeah, yeah." She waved a hand dismissively and Sayah stared at her with affection before leaving the room, a small grin on her face.
It wasn't hard to find Murphy: Sayah wished she could say; it was actually hard, Sayah didn't know the lab very well yet, so she found herself searching around, checking small rooms and such. She, even for a moment, thought about looking into a small supply closet, because perhaps Murphy and Emori would be there, hands all over each other, lips attached greedily—
Sayah turned a corner, only to reel back in hopes of not knocking into another figure. "Hey, have you seen— Oh. Sayah." The voice rambled. It was him, standing there like the wind had been knocked out of him, fingers relaxing at his sides almost instantly—he must've been fiddling with them. Sayah could only stare for a few seconds before words actually formed in her mind.
"John, I was just. . ." She hated how nervous she was. She didn't get nervous; she made people nervous. "I was just looking for you."
"Lucky." Murphy tilted his head slightly, a corner of his lips curving up slightly in the familiar way it would. Sayah suddenly had the urge to step a little closer to him. "I was looking for you too."
