Grounder | An Anya Love Story

Recap

The man she was hitting stilled awhile ago but she didn't care all the hate and pain she was feeling towards him, Clarke, Lexa all came forward leaving Maria to not care that she just killed him.

3rd Person

Covered in blood from both Clarke and Mark, Maria left the grounder camp in a hurry making her way back to Anya and Lexa could only hope be the Ark. Lexa sent out guards and scouts to go find her letting the emotion of losing her friend show on her face as Clarke watched the once steady commander worry about both of their friends. Anya was a mess she was leading a search team trying to find her distressed girlfriend. 

Maria made it two miles before she climbed a tree and sat there. Memories consumed her mind. 

The first hit was the worst one. Easy to cover up with both makeup and false apologies. As time pasted her boyfriend was quickly becoming her worse nightmare just like her father. Slowly the bruises started becoming hard to cover up and lies were becoming thin, but no one batted an eye because of who he was. Mark was a very well known guard on the Ark no one wanted to question him. Well no one but Finn, but since he broke the law he was out of the picture, leaving Maria to cry to Raven who she made swore not to do anything. 

Hearing a twig snap beneath her, Marias eyes landed on the group of three grounders that looked like they were searching for something. Maria stilled making sure to keep her eyes trained on the men bellow her waiting to strike if needed. The men slowly passed by her not noticing the small girl hidden in the top of the tree above them. 

"Maria come here." Her father spat as he was laying in the couch. The small maria made her way over to her father not saying a word just like he liked it. Quiet and obedient. "As you know you're mother is gone." He started not noticing the tears in his daughters eyes. "And since she is gone I need you to take up her role around the house. Is that clear?" 

The small girl nodded her head "Yes sir." 

She paused curling in on herself more. 

Finns eyes fell on his friend who was sitting across the room head down not talking to anyone. Her hair was down and around her face. She didn't look at him once since the school day started, usually the two were inseparable. The previous days Maria wouldn't even go near Finn or anyone for that matter, only talk when spoken to and never raised her head up, Finn had enough. The small boy marched over to his friend putting his hand on her shoulder he almost didn't notice how the small girl flinched underneath his touch but he was to focused to care. He turned his friend around and the first thing he saw was the tear marks down her face and as his eyes followed those he saw the hand print sticking out from underneath her shirt . The dark purple bruises could be seen through the collar of her shirt but no one seemed to notice as no one payed attention to her. 

The two made eye contact after Finn quickly pulling her into his arms hugging his friend as she cried in his chest. "Who did this?"  he asked her angrily. all she did was shake her head. 

The sob broke through the air breaking the silence. Her hand covered her mouth trying to keep quiet. Quickly she moved her way down the tree her feet hitting the ground before breaking off into a sprint. Maria dogged trees and roots before she made her way to the clearing, her eyes landed on the broken pieces of the ark. The woman paused before sinking to the ground her eyes never leaving the ark.

I cant stay here. No one will let me stay, no one will look at me the same way again. Everyone was already wary of me being there because of my relationship with the grounders but now there is no one who will back me. 

I slowly get off the ground and make my way back to the grounder camp, I have to see her before I leave I have to tell her I'm sorry. Tears mixed with blood run down my face as I stumble my way into the grounder camp. My eyes lock with Clarkes as she quickly hits Lexas arm. It seemed like it happened really slowly Lexa looking at me and then getting Anya but I know it wasn't because I felt her arms around me before I even processed that Lexa got her. 

"Where were you I was worried sick" All I could do was hug her I know she wanted a response but honestly I didn't have one to give her. 'Oh yea Anya i just beat up Lexas love interest and then killed my fiance, oh by the way I was engaged, but I got scared and I ran.' 

"I killed him." I felt her tense under my touch when I said that.

"You've killed people before he is not different" She whispered to me pulling away slightly but keeping her hands on me. 

"He was different Anya. Any chance of Lexa sending me back down there to make friendly is now over because they will kill me for killing him." She gave me a look.

"They wont kill you and they wont find out." I looked over at Clarke who was talking lowly to Lexa before my gaze shifted over to the woman in front of me. "I love you Anya, with my whole heart."

"I love you as well. But Maria what does this have to do with anything." The tears were flowing down my face again but I didn't care if they saw me like this. I was weak I needed Anya to know that I was weak. I slowly pulled her hands off of me as I gave her a sad smile.

"I need to leave." 

"Then I will come with you." Was her immediate response and I couldn't help but let out a small laugh at her words. She was trying not to cry now I could see it.

"No my love. I need to leave and you cant come with me."

"You cant leave me. I wont let you." 

"Good thing I'm not asking for your permission." I gave her one last smile before I pressed down on a spot on her neck making her fall to the ground unconscious. all eyes landed on us as Lexa made her way over. I bent down moving Anyas hair out of her face a placing a small kiss on her forehead.

"Maria what the hell happened." Lexa yelled at me, Clarke was still here and she probably wont ever leave.

"I'm leaving Lexa, and Anya wouldn't let me do it if she was awake. I cant have her fallowing me."

"Well you're crazy to think that I would just let you leave. You're my second and you will be where I tell you to be." Her voice held anger and I honestly didn't blame her.

"I'm sorry heda but the only way you can stop me is by arresting me. I am leaving and I don't know when or if I will be coming back." I looked her in the eyes, they were dark and hard. I was no longer her friend.

"Don't make me do this Maria, I will give you one more chance for the sake that you're my second, to change your mind." My gaze shifted off of hers to Clarkes then down to the passed out Anya, before they make their way back up to Lexas.

"I'm sorry heda." 

"Guards!" She yelled, to men quickly came running up to us. "Take Maria back to Polis she will be staying it the cells for the time being." The men hesitated to come up to me, but my eyes never left Lexas who barked at them to do it now. She came up to me one my hands were ties behind my back. "I am doing this for your own good." I watched her hand raise and everything went dark when it came in contact with my face.
