Chapter 26

---Alivia---

Morning came, I was sitting at the table, my head in my hands.  Riley came in.  "What's wrong honey?"

"It broke last night."

"Shit."  he said.  "Maybe it'll be fine?"

"I don't know.  I have to go to work."  he tried to hug me.  I just walked out the door.

That night, I returned home.  Riley was in the kitchen making dinner.  I set my keys on the table.  He looked up and didn't say anything.  "Hi."  I said.  Nothing.  "Mom said I should be fine.  Nina did a lot of the internal healing."  he nodded.  "Riley, I'm sorry for being so rude to you this morning.  You have no idea how scared I am."

"I don't?  We've been told this last month that if you got pregnant then it could kill you.  You must have decided last month that you were in this on your own.  Then be on your own."  He walked out the back door slamming it.  I jumped.

I was sitting at the table just moving my food around on the plate.  The girls already ate.  Riley still wasn't here.  "Mommy, where's daddy?"  Jessica asked me.

"I don't know baby."  I said.

"Is mommy sad?"  I nodded.  "Why?"

"Mommy made daddy mad.  Daddy hurt mommy's feelings."  she hugged me.

The door opened around midnight.  My food had remained untouched.  I was sitting on the floor in the kitchen.  I was trying to wrap my sore hand.  I flung the first aid kit across the room.  Riley walked in.  "Did you eat?"

"No.  It doesn't matter.  I'm on my own remember?"  I went upstairs and locked the door to the room next to Jessica's.

Around 7, I was in the kitchen making breakfast.  Riley came in.  The girls were eating their breakfast.  I set Riley's plate on the table and grabbed my toast.  I left the house and went to work.  My mom looked up from her clipboard.  "Hey.  You feeling okay?"

"I'm fine."

"You sure?"

"Yeah."  I made my rounds and felt lightheaded.  I shouldn't have skipped dinner and breakfast.  I shook off the lightheaded feeling and returned to the main desk.

"Alivia, you don't look too good."  I fainted.  "ALI!"  My mom caught me.

I was just about ready to leave the house helping Jessica get her shoes on.  The phone rang.  I grabbed it.  "Hello?"

"Riley, Alivia passed out at work.  The cuts on her hand are infected.  Her vampire is very sick which is making her sick."

"Let me drop Jessica off at preschool.  I'll be there as soon as I can."

"All right."

I got to the hospital, my parents watching Selena, Sasha, and Jasimine.  I walked into Alivia's room.  Her mom was wrapping her hand.  I was grabbed and shoved into the wall.  "Brad, let him go."
