Another small jump. I have my reasons!
----Alivia----
Jessica Marie Andrews was born two weeks premature, she weighed 6 lbs and 11 oz. I was holding her in my hospital bed. "I wish your daddy was here to see his beautiful baby girl." I said to her. Riley's parents and mine came into the room to awe over Jessica. I let my mom take her.
"She's so beautiful."
"She is." I said.
When she was a week old, I was at the house, my mom and dad were helping me with Jessica. Riley's parents arrived with more stuff for the baby. I was holding Jessica while she started to doze off. There was a knock on the door, I stood up and went to get the door. I opened it with my free hand.
Within twenty minutes, my mom was holding me while I cried. Riley was missing after a plane crash.
A week later, I was sitting on the couch at my parents' house, bottlefeeding Jessica. "Hey sis. How are you doing?"
"Great. I just want Jessica to sleep through the night."
"I mean since the news."
"Same old same old." I said. I stood up and put Jessica in her bassinet. I went into the kitchen and washed out the bottle.
----Katrina----
Marci and I were picking up groceries. "So, how's Alivia?"
"She's acting like nothing happened."
"It's her way of dealing with it."
"It's not normal."
"Define normal." Marci said. "She just had a baby and gets news that Riley is missing and possibly dead. She just needs time."
"Where's all this coming from?"
"The fact that my son is missing says a lot."
"I didn't mean it that way." I said.
"I know."
We got home and I heard yelling. I went inside with Marci. "Riley is probably dead and you don't even care." Jr. was yelling at Alivia.
"Don't tell me that I don't care." she said.
"Then act like you do."
"I can't just walk around here moping. It's bad enough that I have to worry about Jessica growing up not knowing her father. It's more than just me now. I love Riley and I want him to be found and home to watch his daughter grow up." I heard Jessica start crying. Alivia went upstairs taking two at a time. I heard something break upstairs right when Brad came in. He ran upstairs and I followed behind him. Alivia's hands were cut and she was crying. Brad tried to hug her but she wouldn't let him.
Marci came in behind me, Brad managed to hug her. She was sitting on the floor. Brad looked at me. "She needs stitches." he helped her up. "Come on, Ali."
Brad came hone an hour later, he was carrying Alivia, she was asleep. I put a blanket over the couch and he set her down. He covered her up and followed me to the kitchen. "What happened?"
"We came home from the store and Jr. was yelling at her. Accusing her of not caring that Riley was missing." Jr. looked up from his spot at the table.
"Dad, I'm sorry."
"I don't want to hear it. Your sister cares. Ever since she found out she hasn't been sleeping well. Jessica is at risk of not growing up with a father. She's been through hell this past week." Brad washed his hands.
Two hours later, "Daddy!" I heard Alivia wake up. Brad handed me Jessica, I followed him into the living room. "D-dad, Riley..."
"Shh... I know honey." he said. I handed him Jessica. "Here." he handed her the baby and she relaxed a little. "Go back to sleep."
9 months later, Alivia was working with Jessica to get her walking. She had Alpha blood in her from Alivia and Riley. Brad was sitting on the couch beside me while Aliva held Jessica's hands helping her walk. "Go see grandpa." Alivia said to Jessica. Brad held out his hands and Jessica took a step then her mom let go. She turned back to her mom and reached. "It's okay, go see grandpa." She took her hands again and she took a couple more steps. She made it to her grandpa. Brad picked her up.
