Chapter 22

I woke up the next morning and saw Kakashi getting ready again. "You going out again?" I asked, as Kakashi sighed. "There were problems with the printers and everything is out of sorts, but I hope to be home by the end of the day" said Kakashi, as I watched him walk towards the door. "Kakashi" I said, as he glanced at me. "Be safe" I said, as I stood there hoping for him to kiss my forehead again, but he just smiled and walked out of the apartment. Why was this so difficult? I sat around the apartment slowly working on my comic. I soon paused when my cell phone rang. I looked at the I.D. and gloomed. "What?" I asked, as Tobi chuckled. "Have you given any thought on my offer?" asked Tobi, as I narrowed my eyes. "No I have been busy trying to get my work done" I said, as he chuckled again. "Let me guess... your at their apartment sitting in the dining room all alone and wondering if your good enough" said Tobi, as I stopped and bit my lip. I hated that this guy knew more about me than Itachi and Kakashi did. I hated the fact that he was right. I took a deep breath and glared at my cell phone. "If you keep bugging me like this I am going to leave" I threatened, as Tobi chuckled again. "Where else are you going to go? Who else will take you? Not a lot of people are willing to give in to your demands" said Tobi, as I growled. "Don't bug me" I said hanging up my phone and then paused when the buzzer on the intercom buzzed. I walked up to it and pressed the button. "Hello?" I questioned "Its us" said Hana, as I buzzed her in. I waited and then heard a knock at the door. I walked over and opened it seeing Hana with the cat. "Thanks a bunch... where is everyone?" asked Hana placing the cat down, as I smiled sadly. "Work" I said, as Hana nodded handing me all the things I need for the cat. "Well later" said Hana waving while walking out the door. I sighed locking the door behind her and then sighed. "Meow" said a voice, as I looked down at the cat looking up at me. I squatted down to his level and slowly held out my hand for the cat to sniff. "I guess we're in the same boat aren't we?" I asked the cat not expecting an answer. The cat rubbed against me and I smiled sadly.

Hours later I was just smiling at the cat who was now trying to play with me. "Hmm, what name should I give you?" I asked, as I giggled when the cat nuzzled his face against mine. "You just want to be my buddy don't you?" I asked "Meow" said the cat, as I stopped and looked at him. "Buddy?" I questioned, as the cat then meowed again. I smiled and then cuddled him. "Well then, Buddy it is" I said, as the cat meowed. I got up and started feeding Buddy his food and then I sat down at the dining room table and started eating myself. It was definitely less lonely with Buddy around. I smiled watching him eat and then I sighed looking at the clock. It was only six and no sign of Kakashi or Itachi. I sighed closing my eyes and washed my dishes. I sat on the couch and decided to watch TV. I then paused seeing Itachi on TV. "So everyone is dying to know... do you have a special someone in your life?" asked the interviewer, as I stopped and clutched the remote in my hands. Itachi gave a fake smile and then crossed his arms. "How could I possibly? My fans are my special someone" said Itachi, as my heart stopped. I get that he would want to keep his personal life personal, but to hear it out loud like that hurt. I turned off the TV and paused when Buddy jumped into my lap. He meowed and I smiled sadly. I then shook my head and decided to watch a movie to get out of my funk. Before I knew it my eyes became drowsy and then sleep came over me. "WHAT THE HELL?!" shouted a voice, as I jumped up and saw Itachi at the door freaking out. I looked at the floor and saw Buddy hissing at him. "Ah Buddy" I said, as he stopped and came running to me. I picked him up and held him close. "Sorry Itachi" I said, as Itachi sighed and glared at Buddy. "Please tell me we are not keeping him" said Itachi, as I paused looking down at Buddy and then looked at Itachi walking inside while taking his shoes off. "Kakashi said I could look after him for awhile" I said, as Itachi sighed. "Yeah, okay" said Itachi, as I watched him take off his jacket. "I... saw your interview today on TV" I said, as Itachi stopped and looked back at me. "What did you think?" asked Itachi, as I smiled sadly. "I... got a little jealous" I said, as Itachi stopped and looked at me surprised. "You have so many loving fans" I said, as Itachi sighed and took a few steps towards me. "I don't want people snooping into our lives" he said, as I nodded. Itachi just stood in front of me and then my eyes widened as Buddy started hissing like crazy. Itachi growled and then I turned my head when Kakashi came into the apartment. "Man that was long" said Kakashi, as I smiled at him. "Welcome home" I said, as Kakashi smiled at me and then paused looking at Buddy. "What's going on?" asked Kakashi "You said I could take care of Buddy until Hana finds him a new home" I said, as Kakashi blinked a few times. "Did I?" he questioned, as I held Buddy tighter. Kakashi sighed coming closer and looked down at Buddy. My eyes widened in shock when Buddy started hissing and swiping his claws towards Kakashi as well. "This is why I'm a dog person" said Kakashi, as I looked at both of them. "I can tell Hana no" I said, as they both looked at me. "Its too late for that" said Itachi, as I watched him walk to his room. Kakashi sighed and I watched Kakashi do the same.

The next morning I held Buddy close and walked towards the dining room. I saw Kakashi typing and Itachi lying on the couch. I bit my lip and looked down at Buddy who was purring into my chest. "Morning" I said, as neither one of them looked at me. "Morning" they both said, as I sighed. "I'm... thinking of changing my editor" I said, as they stopped and both looked at me. "Thank god" said Itachi, as I watched him get up and walk towards me. "We didn't want to say anything, but it is your choice" said Kakashi, as I looked at them. Is that why they were acting so weird? I then growled and stepped back from Itachi who looked at me surprised. "We have to be honest with each other, I don't like this drama" I said, as Itachi and Kakashi glanced at each other. "We're sorry Rei" said Kakashi, as I watched the both of them walk up to me. "We love you" said Itachi, as I smiled at them. I then paused when Buddy started nuzzling his face to Kakashi's hand. "Seems like he knew what was wrong" said Itachi, as I smiled. "Can we please keep him?" I asked, as Kakashi and Itachi looked at each other and smiled. "Yeah" said Itachi and Kakashi, as I smiled. I placed Buddy down and hugged them both. "Love you" I said, as they stopped and smiled down at me. "We love you too" said Kakashi and Itachi.
