Part-20

In the living room, the rest of the Cullen's, including the refreshed Rosalie and Emmett sat waiting for Jasper.
All eyes were locked on him when he entered the room.
"I know you all probably hate me right now..." he sighed.
"Oh no, of course not darling. We're you're family." Said Esme, walking up to hug her son.
"We love you and support you no matter what." Added Carlisle.
"We're just concerned...because of Alice."
Said Esme.
"I just couldn't keep lying to her..." Sighed Jasper.
"Time heals all wounds, son. We all know that." Said Carlisle.
"What will you do now? I mean, wouldn't it be hard for you and Alice to be around each other all the time?" Asked Rosalie.
"I'm leaving tonight, with Nolana. Probably heading back to our old hometown in Texas."
Edward and Emmett's expressions saddened, was there brother really going to leave them?
"Don't worry, I'll call and email you guys all the time. You can come visit anytime you want." Added Jasper.
"Of course we will...you're still our brother. Always will be." Sighed Edward, sadly.
Emmett nodded in agreement.
"Don't get me wrong, I'd love to stay...but-"
"Nonsense." Interrupted Alice, lightly scampering down the steps. Her hair and makeup was fixed, and she seemed to be in an unusually chipper mood.
"I'm leaving."
"What?" Asked Esme
"I've given it some thought, and, I feel like this would be a great opportunity for me to travel and find myself. Ya know?"
"Alice, please, you don't have to go. I can't bare to see the family break up like this." Said Esme.
"Jasper and Nolana can stay here. There's no reason for them to go if I'm leaving too. And plus, this will be good for me. A change of scenery. And who knows, maybe I'll meet some new vampires." She smiles, winking at Jasper, awkwardly.
"Alice....are you sure you're alright?"
"Yeah! I'm fine. Really. No point in living in the past. Right Jasper?" She says snarkily, her sudden mood switch is making the whole atmosphere of the room feel off.
"I need a nice long vacation. I insist, Jasper. Please stay."
"I mean..if that's what you really want."
"Great! It's settled, then! You and Nolana go hunting so I can pack up. Sound good?" She smiled, in her typical bubbly way.
"Uh...sure. That's fine." Replies Jasper, uncomfortably.
"Awesome! I'll start with my bedroom upstairs! Toodles!" She beamed as she skipped up the stairs.
Everyone in the room was stunned by what they just witnessed.
"Is it just me or is she taking this way too well?" Whispered Rosalie to Emmett.
Emmett shrugged in response
"I think she's flipped her lid, myself..." he replied.
"Carlisle please, don't let her go. She's clearly unwell..." begged Esme
"What can I do? She's an adult, I can't chain her to the front porch. Besides, maybe a change of scenery will do her some good." He said.
Jasper slowly clutched his throat, feeling the thirst getting stronger.
"Are you wanting to take the next hunt?" Asks Edward.
"You don't mind do you?" Chuckles Jasper.
"Nah, you guys go ahead. I'll go with Esme and Carlisle after you get back."
Jasper nods and heads for the door, ready to take his mate on her first vegetarian hunt.
